From here to... Capside? by Paula Moody
Part One in the Series
Dawson and Joey sat silently, which was unusual for them, on his bed watching
the end of Titanic for the umpteenth time.
"I'll never let go..." Rose said to a sinking Jack on the tv screen.
Joey just got a very weird look on her face. She looked over at Dawson and
grimaced. He was intensenly involved in the movie and she could tell that he
loved it. She, of course, did not.
"You love this, don't you Dawson?"
"Why wouldn't I? I mean that kind of true love is hard to find in this world."
"You mean, doesn't exist, right Dawson? I mean they only knew each other for 3
days. How could they fall so deeply in love that they wanted to spend the rest
of their lives together. That is so ridiculous, Dawson," she said as she got up
from his bed and walked toward the window.
"Why is it ridiculous? Love like that is possible. If it wasn't possible why
would they weave it into storyline of every movie ever written?"
"because, Dawson. People watch movies to see things that don't exist in real
life, that's why. Jack never even tells her that he loves her. What is that all
about?" she paused to hear Dawson's answer, but he said nothing.
"G'night
Dawson," she says as she begins to climg out of the window, but Dawson jumps up
from his bed and grabbed her arm.
"Wait, Joey!"
"What Dawson?" she asked somewhat annoyed.
"Just because Jack doesn't tell Rose that he loved her, doesn't mean that he
didn't," he said as he brushed the hair from joey's face and smiled.
"I guess so. See ya tomorrow, Dawson," she said with a smile and climbed the
rest of the way out of the window.
"Bye, Joey," Dawson said with a contented smile as he plopped down upon his
bed.
He didn't want her to leave. He knew that he shouldn't have let her leave. In
the movie of his life that would be the part he'd regret the most. He felt like
writing out their next ecounter, just to make sure that he wouldn't let her go
again, but he had wanted to do that with Jen but Joey said no.
"No, dawson. That is so tacky. Making a script of your first kiss. C'mon."
So, making a script for Joey would just seem pointless. He would just have to
go with the flow of it. He'd tell her, he would, but what WOULD he tell her?
(The next morning at school)
"Hey hey Mr. Leery. What's shaking?" Pacey said as he strolled over to Dawson
who was standing in front of his locker.
"Nothing much, but you seem extrodinarily happy. Did a mouse get loose in your
pocket last night or something?" Dawson said with a laugh. Pacey gave him a look
but eventually smiled.
"That was actaully a good one, my teaching abilities astound me," Pacey
chuckled as he took a yellow piece of paper out of his pocket. "But, this is the
real reason why I am bouncing off the ceilings this morning," he handed the
paper to Dawson.
Dawson read it and when he finished his eyes widened and he lips curled to a
smile.
"Pacey, all right. I can't believe you finally passed. Congrats!"
"Oh thanks for the vote of confidnece."
"No, I mean it's just great that one of us can actually operate a motor
vehicle, legally."
"yeah, it's kind of disapointing. I won't have the pleasure of accidentally
taking my father police car for emergencies any more," Pacey said with a laugh.
"I guess not. So, can you really drive, I mean with just that piece of paper?"
"Oh yeah. I have an idea-" Pacey was stopped by the rinigng of the first period
bell.
"I'll tell ya about it later"
"At lunch?" Dawson asked as he grabbed one last book from his locker and began
to run down the hall.
"
Yeah, See ya," Pacey said as he casually strolled down the hall to his class.
