Donna Lewis Online

A Review of "Now In A Minute" by David Anderson

Donna Lewis exhibits stunning melodic/techno abilities. Her tunes are very
'singable'. They stick in your head. She also writes in very wide range of
moods. Her music is almost painfully evocative. I find I can become deeply
involved in almost any song on the entire album. There isn't a lack lustre
track to be found here.

Though her lyrics are down to earth, they exhibit a sophisticated poetical
style. She uses a kind of lyrical impressionism, placing descriptive phrases
together in nonconjunctive chains:

"...you've got me almost melting away as we lay there under blue sky
with pure white stars exotic sweetness a magical time say it again."
- from I Love You Always Forever, album Now In A Minute.

Her voice is something else. She has a great range of textures and emotive
abilities. Listen carefully to her vocals in Nothing Ever Changes. She uses
an absolutely delicious, husky tone in the low ends, moving with the bass
guitar phrase for phrase. Her voice is rich and always very sensual.

It pleases me immensely that she writes and arranges almost all her
material; quite an accomplishment for someone as young as she is.

I'm going to be listening to this artist for a long time.
