GILLIAN ANDERSON loves her job so much she takes her work home with her. The flame-haired X-FILES stunner couldn't resist the replica of an alien skull she spotted in trendy New York store EVOLUTION. The actress snapped up the unusual objet d'art for $200 to put on pride of place in her home.

The truth is out there - but X-FILES hunk DAVID DUCHOVNY might not spot it. The actor, who plays eagle-eyed FBI FOX MULDER in the hit sci- fi series, is virtually blind in one eye. A childhood accident when a pal jammed a thumb in his eye during a playground basketball game left him with partial eyesight on the right side. The 37-year-old stud confides, "I nearly lost my eye. I can't see a thing out of it. I have one pupil dilated." And the actor, who recently married actress TEA LEONI, uses eye drops several times a day to control the damaged eye. He adds, "I drug my eye for the viewing public so they don't get scared of me."

X-FILES star GILLIAN ANDERSON has revealed her greatest fear is that she'll go mad. Anderson, who plays Agent Scully in the worldwide hit series, says she has reason to believe she is closer to insanity than most. She says, "There have been times in the past when I thought that I was close. It was a real danger for me." But Anderson, who is frequently referred to as the 'World's sexiest woman', refuses to explain the roots of her feared madness. She says, "It's related to everything. I can't tell you more than that. But don't put this into the present - that's very important. I won't say anymore."

THE X-FILES star GILLIAN ANDERSON was so keen to see her first home in London she instructed her driver to take her there direct from the airport. The actress, who flew into Britain at the weekend (10-11MAY97) to promote her debut single EXTREMIS with British dance music duo HAL, insisted on taking time out to visit her old "manor" of Crouch End, North London. Anderson grew up there and admits she was delighted to see the area hadn't changed. She says, "I always try and pop back there whenever I'm in London, but I don't always get the chance. "There's this little card shop there that's been there forever - and it's still there. It's probably my favourite shop."

GILLIAN ANDERSON doesn't care if her record isn't a hit - because she doesn't want to be a pop star. The X-FILES actress whispers seductively on EXTREMIS, the single she is releasing with British dance duo HAL. But she doesn't intend to carry on making records and has already rejected a $960,000 album offer. Anderson says, "It was a bit of fun but I'm an actress not a singer." However, she is thrilled that the track is featured on the SPICE GIRLS' compilation album GIRL POWER! "They've got no need to worry about be as a singing rival," she adds.

X-FILES star DAVID DUCHOVNY went up the aisle on May 7th in New York as he wed actress TEA LEONI. The couple, who met four years ago at the GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS, invited just eight relatives to the hush hush ceremony. Even Duchovny's X-Files co-star GILLIAN ANDERSON was missing. The service was held at the Grace Roman Catholic Church School where 36 year-old Duchovny's mother MARGARET teaches and he was a pupil. The couple swapped rings before leaving for a meal and hampagne at a nearby restaurant. The wedding sparked reports that Leoni, 31, the star of sitcom THE NAKED TRUTH is pregnant.

THE X-FILES star DAVID DUCHOVNY picked on a bizarre bistro as the venue to toast his marriage to actress TEA LEONI. The sci-fi stud stunned the guests at his hush-hush wedding by trotting them into New York's HELL'S KITCHEN BISTRO. The unusually-named restaurant specialises in ultra-hot and spicy cooking. And Duchovny and his blonde bombshell bride sent temperatures soaring for fellow dinner guests by frolicking with each other at the dinner table. But Duchovny didn't have to worry about ringing up a huge bill as only six wedding guests attended the service at Manhattan's GRACE SCHOOL CHURCH.

X-FILES hunk DAVID DUCHOVNY hopes the press will stop linking him with every woman he meets now he's married. The hearthrob American actor wed FLIRTING WITH DISASTER actress TEA LEONI in New York on May 7th, after going out with her for several months. And he hopes this will bring an end to stories like the one that linked him with STAY singer LISA LOEB. Duchovny says, "I told this magazine about going to a dinner. Lisa was there, and six or seven other people. But if you read the article it's just me and Lisa having an intimate tete a tete. "She is portrayed as having a crush on me - totally false - and that we are inseparable. We're so inseparable I haven't seen her since." But Duchovny was amused by talk show host CONAN O'BRIEN's prediction of what offspring from his and Loeb's union would look like. He says, "They combined a picture of me and Lisa Loeb, using mostly my face and her glasses. It was the ugliest kid I'd ever seen."

X-FILES star DAVID DUCHOVNY has laughed off speculation his TV show helped inspire the Heaven's Gate mass suicide in California. Although The X-Files was one of the only programmes that cult members were allowed to watch, Duchovny points out the flaw in this connection - that no one would give up their lives in the hope of finding happiness with an X-Files alien. Duchovny says, "I don't have any problem being blamed for that because I don't think we've ever showed nice, pleasant aliens. We always show horrible aliens. "Why would anyone want to join these guys?"

X-FILES star DAVID DUCHOVNY was so angry about being photographed on his honeymoon he flung a cup of coffee at the snapper. The American actor was coming out of the Hotel Lowell in New York City on Saturday morning (10MAY97) with new bride TEA LEONI when he had his tempter tantrum. Three photographers, including diminutive DIANE COHEN, stood outside snapping away - prompting Duchonvy to hurl his take-away coffee at Cohen, hitting her in the leg.

X-FILES star GILLIAN ANDERSON has hit out at claims that the sci-fi show is irresponsible. The smash hit show has been criticised for promoting paranoia with its depiction of government conspiracies and supernatural occurrences. But while Anderson concedes the show isn't even-handed in its treatment of such subjects, she insists people take too much notice of something that is made purely to entertain. She says, "In terms of the media and the public, you can't control how someone is going to perceive the show, whether it's going to be entertainment for them or their version of the Second Coming. "The solutions to problems people hope to find in The X-Files are not contained there. That whole thing recently with the Heaven's Gate cult mass suicide, trying to connect their watching the show with their taking their own lives...it was their choice. "It would have happened regardless of what TV shows they were watching. We are only responsible to ourselves."

THE X-FILES star GILLIAN ANDERSON got arrested after a high school prank was discovered - and she stepped on a nail as she tried to escape. Anderson, who plays DANA SCULLY in the hit American TV series, was forced to do public service for a week after being caught trying to glue all her school's doors shut. And while plenty of other pupils joined in the graduation night stunt, only Anderson had the misfortune to get caught. She says, "I stepped on a nail which kind of slowed me up. But I refused to say who else was there, and they threatened not to let us graduate, so I had to do public service for a week. "It was really humiliating. I had to wash windows and mop floors - my punky purple hair and all. "And the man who had to check on me was really mean. He didn't take me seriously at all. He didn't show me respect."

Making a pop video was a dream come true for THE X-FILES star GILLIAN ANDERSON - because she got the chance to kiss a robot. Anderson is featured frolicking with an android in the promo for EXTREMIS, the single she has recorded with British dance music duo HAL. And she admits, "There is something very provocative about the concept of having intimate relations with something that is not human. "I'm not talking about...I mean, like KING KONG. There was something very erotic about that, and about the film SPECIES. The potential power of the meshing of two different energies, what would that be?" But Anderson is quick to add Extremis and its accompanying video is nothing serious. She says, "This whole project to me is about having fun and being creative in another way. "I have nothing tied to its success. As long as people don't take it too seriously, or think I'm taking it too seriously, I'll be happy."

Her pop career has only just started, but THE X- FILES star GILLIAN ANDERSON is determined her debut single EXTREMIS won't be the last music fans hear from her. Anderson, who plays sceptical FBI agent DANA SCULLY, in the spooky sci-fi TV series, has recorded Extremis with British dance duo HAL. And while working with the pair, the former punk rocker fell in love with dance music. Now she has compiled a selection of her favourite tracks for a new album called FUTURE: A JOURNEY THROUGH THE ELECTRONIC UNDERGROUND, which features tracks from THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS, MASSIVE ATTACK and FLUKE. But Anderson insists that doesn't make her an expert on dance music. She says, "I don't know loads about dance music, but I know music - it's always been a huge part of my life. "But there's some great bands at the moment who hint at dance music, like THE PRODIGY. There's a great guttural edge to them that separates them from what I'd usually consider to be dance music."

A movie in which X FILES star GILLIAN ANDERSON has topless sex on the floor is to be shown across America. Anderson, 28, starred in unknown movie THE TURNING in 1992 before she found fame as paranormal investigator DANA SCULLY. Director LOU PUOPOLO had to coax her to take off her bra. He said, "We had to discuss the nudity." The film opens in Los Angeles, California, on Friday (02MAY97).

X-FILES babe GILLIAN ANDERSON's childhood secrets are stranger than fiction - she used to write poetry to her pet iguana. The 28-year-old actress, voted `Most Bizarre' at school, once had short spiky red hair, a pierced nose and a wardrobe of charity shop cast-offs. But she was not just creative in appearance - Anderson penned poetic prose about her pet lizard for the school paper. She wrote, "As he spread himself unenthusiastically on his hot rock, a hint of sorrow spurts from beneath his lidded eyes. "He is no longer the plump reptile I once knew and loved."
