Route 66 Preservation Societies
After driving down the Mother Road in May of 1996 and 1997, I was really depressed to see that much of the old highway is now a deserted, worn-out, broken-up piece of road. In some places, it doesn't even exist anymore. Long gone are Route 66's glory days, but thankfully it is being "rediscovered" by a new generation of road trippers and is becoming a popular route to travel once again.

If you have already driven down Route 66, you know what I'm talking about. If you have only dreamed of making the trek, by all means you should do it. But either way, please try to help out these organizations in their preservation efforts. Your help means a lot.

Below you'll find a list of organizations dedicated to preserving the "Main Street of America" for future generations. I compiled this list myself, so if you have anything to add or if anything needs correcting, please let me know. And, as someone once put it, "listen to your Mother Road."
