Leonardo's decision to play a young man named 'Jack Dawson' in the acclaimed film 'Titanic' was probably one of the most impotant yet. Everything about Titanic was titanic! The most expensive film ever made, it has made more money than eany other in history. Its 14 Oscar nominations tied the record for the most ever bestowed upon any film and 'Titanic' certainly made an international star out of Leonardo DiCaprio.

Leo's character, a rakish, freewheeling artist named Jack Dawson was a dreamer who won his steerage-class ticket in a card game. Jack thought he was the luckiest guy in the world. And in one sense he was. For on the Titanic, he met the love of his life, first-class passenger Rose DeWitt Bukater. Against all odds, vagabond Jack wins her heart, or as she puts it in the movie, "saved me in every possible way a woman could be saved". Of course the two face death just as their spirits are being born. For all these reasons, 'Titanic' was a great love story and immense tragedy all in one.

Recently Leo has starred in other films, such as the Titanic follow-up, 'The Manin the Iron Mask' where Leo played the dual role of the King of France and a mysterious masked prisoner who gets rescued from the Bastille; and more recently he had a short cameo appearance as a spoiled young Hollywood actor in one of Woody Allens films - 'Celebrity'. Currently Leo is filming a new flick titled 'The Beach'.

Though still only 24, Leo's boyish looks allow him to apply his learned experience and charm to younger roles that many of his immature competitors cannot handle. So what does he really want? "I want a career, to act, and write and direct, and be involved in all aspects of the moviemaking process. I want a long happy life and I really want to fall in love eventaully. I am the typ of person who wants to share a lot. Its all about making memories".
