The music business underwent major changes in the years following the release of the first Ladykillers compilation. Although female performers have achieve increased acceptance and acclaim in pop, blues and folk music, those who perform hard rock or metal have virtually disappeared from the spotlight. Not only are few (if any) new female-fronted heavy acts being signed, but, most albums by the most popular female-fronted acts of the 1980s are now out of print.
Considering the virtual nonexistance of femalsingers in the contemporary heavy music scene, the primary intent of Volume Two of the Ladykillers compilation series is to draw attention to the featured performers. I hope that the attention provoked by the Ladykillers Two album will also benefit the artists in these two ways: (1.) That media attention will motivate the record labels of the already-established performers to re-release many of the great albums which are now out of print. (2.) That the increased publicity will provoke the record companies to sign new female-fronted acts that play heavy music and to resign some of the established ones.
Participation on Ladykillers is by "invitation only." Naturally, priority is given to recognized performers whose involvement will add media interest. However, since female-fronted bands are somewhat rare, a few outstanding newcomers will also be included on the album.
