The following is taken from a news clip shown by the WB network. I got it from a site called "Fellow Tweakos United":
News Guy: If you saw tonight's season finale of Buffy the Vampire Slayer then you saw the end of one of television's greatest romances with the death of Angel, the vampire. However, we have it on good authority that Angel is still alive and in fact the WB is resurrecting the hunky vampire by giving David Boreanaz his own show next year. Roby Chavez talked with Boreanaz and Buffy's Sarah Michelle Geller to get the inside scoop about next season.
***Shows clips of when Buffy confronts Angel in the mansion before he pulls out the sword. The dialogue from that is covered by the reporters voice and we have all seen the episode so I am not going to describe it.***
Roby Chavez: Dumping the boyfriend is never easy, but when he is a vampire that's got your heart, killing him off is going to get a bit ugly. To say the doomed couple fights a lot is an understatement.
***"Hello lover" "I don't have time for you" yada yada yada***
Roby Chavez: The season finale is farewell for Buffy and Angel after a season of a forbidden, heated affair. It took four days for the two stars to prepare for this sword fight.
*** cut to SMG being interviewed ***
SMG: It was actually a difficult fight. We all came out of it pretty bruised. I had some pretty bad bruises, there were some broken fingers, it was a brutal fight, but I think from the end product that it was incredibly worth it.
*** cut to David being interviewed ***
David: It was amazing how we picked up on it. We just got into a group, we were focused , and we just let it fly. And it was, it was great. It was a great battle and we had a lot of fun with it. When it was over we didn't want it to be over ~laughing~ We wanted to continue fighting with the swords.
*** cut to clip where Buffy catches Angel's sword in her hands (pretty cool I thought!) ***
Roby Chavez: But it was over, and Angel was killed.
*** cut to clip where Angel and Buffy are hugging ***
Roby Chavez (continues over the clip): Doomed to the demons, but not before a very moving scene that left even the stars overwhelmed. SMG knew it was goodbye.
*** cut to SMG ***
SMG: David and I are incredible friends. He is one of my best friends and to do that heartbreaking scene...I was crying afterwards and for about 5 minutes we just kindof held each other there because its where you have to break the line of 'okay, this isn't real.
*** clip of Angel slicing his hand with a dagger ***
Roby Chavez: But with vampires and television you are never really dead, especially when you are one of the new faces in Hollywood. It doesn't hurt to be a hunk too. David Boreanaz's spin-off "Angel" will debut in 1999 on the WB network. Angel moves to L.A.
*** cut to David being interviewed ***
David: I've gotta pay for a lot of my sins I have committed in the past 8 weeks of being evil, so when I return I will have some people to answer to and its not gonna be fun.
*** cut to Roby Chavez standing in front of a Buffy poster ***
Roby C: The chemistry between Buffy and Angel has been a big hit and has kept fans wanting more. Both stars say it's because behind the scenes they are friends. The only thing they will not say is whether or not there will be a reunion.
*** Cut to David ***
David: I'll come back and visit her in Sunnydale to make sure her next boyfriend doesn't treat her roughly or anything because we can't have any of that.
*** cut to the scene where Buffy watches her friends and then turns down the road to catch the bus with the reporters voice talking ***
Roby Chavez: It is a big hit but by the end of the finale, even more questions remained like 'How will Angel come back?' 'Will he remember Buffy?' 'Where is she going?' Stay tuned!
*** And that's the end ***
