"What? You couldn’t stay away?" David asked with great sarcasm.

"Well, I guess I can’t be something I ain’t," Jack replied.

"A scab?"

"No, smart." Jack shook his head ruefully.

David heaved a sigh, somewhat exasperated. "So what now? Are you going to  dodge the Delanceys for the rest of your life?"

"No," Jack said softly, and it was clear he already knew what he was going to do.

"Then what?" asked Sarah, dreading an answer.
