“Meg! Have you seen my blue tank top?! I cant find it ANYWHERE!” My muffled voice came from inside the closet. I was trying to look for something nice to wear to the beach. “Never mind! I found it!” I said after pulling out of a pile of clothes.

“Gosh Lucy, you seriously should be neater!” Meg said pulling her long hair into a pony tail. I just laughed. I was soooo excited! I was visiting Meg in California and it was my very first trip to the sunny beaches. And boy, was I ready to drool over the hotties there!

“I’m glad you came down this summer to visit me! This is just too awesome! I finally get to meet one of my BSB penpals! Ok, are you ready? Let’s go!” Meg said grabbing her duffel bag. “Yup! All ready! Let’s jet!” I called out.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I guess I should tell you more about us two, HUGE Backstreet Boy fans! My name is Lucy and I am a huge Nick lover! My good friend here, Meg, is in love with that hottie, Nick too! *We often fight over him!* And we met online and have been great friends since! I am originally from Calgary, Canada, but for the summer, my parents let me go down to sunny California to meet my penpal! I’ve been in the U.S for only a day and so far, I have been having a BLAST! Ok, back to the story!

“Lucy, you’re drooling again.” Meg said handing me a tissue. I giggled. “Oh gosh, how can you just sit here while all these hot guys walk infront of your face?!” My voice trailed off as another hottie caught my attention. “I’m not as boy crazy as you are!” Meg answered. “UGH! You?! Not as boy crazy as ME!? YAH RIGHT!” I exclaimed. Meg laughed. “You’re right! I have got to be the craziest girl out there!”

I turned around and adjusted the dial on the stereo we had bought. I decided to listen to the radio before I put a CD in. “Now for what all of you have been waiting for! Drum roll please!!?” A drum roll came from out of the stereo speakers. I listened intently. “Ok, get this! The BACKSTREET BOYS are IN TOWN! Their managers just told us that they will be performing at North Beach really soon! So pack your bikinis and sunscreen right now and head down to North Beach to catch a glimpse of those boys!” The DJ announcer went on to tell us that BSB”s ‘I Want It That Way’ was up next. I turned to Meg.

“Did you just hear what he said??!!!!!” I nearly said, shaking. “WHAT?” Meg didn’t hear the radio broadcast. “BSB ARE HERE!!!” I jumped up.

“What? Yah right?! WHERE?!” Meg jumped up and looked around. “We are in North Beach right?” I wanted to check first. “Yah....” Meg answered. “The guy on the radio just said that BSB will have a special appearance here in North Beach soon!” I said and squealed after.

“Are you sure?” What radio station are you listening to? That stupid one where the DJ’s tell lies?” She went over to the stereo and checked. “Lucy, you were listening to Power 98. They are one of the BIGGEST liars! The last time they said *N Sync was in town for a special little performance in Town Square, but that was a hoax too!” I was shocked. “Why would they say things that aren’t true.” I asked. “I dunno. I guess they think its funny to trick people the way they do.” Meg replied. I shrugged and looked out into the shimmering blue ocean. It was gorgeous. I turned around and saw a totally fine guy at the ice cream stand. I told Meg I would be right back and headed towards him.

The hot blondie looked up from his surfing magazine when he noticed I was surveying the menu. “Hi, how can I help you?” he asked politely. I smiled at him and asked for a small mint chocolate chip cone. I couldn’t help but noticed his beautiful, piercing eyes. “Sure!” he said cheerfully and disappeared in the back to get my ice cream. While waiting for my treat, several girls lined up behind me for their own cone.

I couldn’t help but listen in on their conversation. “I totally CANNOT wait until BSB show up! I am so glad I wore my blue bikini! I’m gonna knock Nick’s socks off!!” One of the girls said, struggling to keep her bottom on right.

“They’re gonna be here soon right?” the blonde one asked. “Yeah, soon.” the other girl replied. “Then what are we doing here!? Shouldn’t we be out there looking for them?!” said the girl in the blue two piece. The rest agreed with her and they all ran off.

“I cant believe those girls are so dumb to fall for those radio guys. I thought. “Ahem.” The voice of the ice cream guy interrupted my thoughts. “Umm...Im sorry, but we ran out of mint coco...” he said apologetically. I gave slightly disappointed look, and replied, “Oh...well, that’s ok! I can survive without ice cream for a while!” The guy grinned. **Wow....he is soooo hot! So incredibly cute!** I looked him over, and I sure was impressed. His t-shirt billowed in the wind, but I could see the muscles he had underneath. “He must play sports...” I thought. The dimples he had gave him a babyface look, but with his piercing eyes and broad jawline, he looked to be about 18 years of age.

I noticed he was studying me the same way I was just looking at him. “You’re not from here are you?” he asked. I smiled and playfully replied, “How’d you guess?!” He laughed and said, “Well, you don’t look too tanned and you seem so nice! Girls down here can be such witches!” I laughed and said, “they can’t be THAT bad!” Chuckling, he added “Well, most of them can be!” When our laughter died down, he cocked his head to one side and said, “You know what? I think you’re really cute!” I grinned and blushed feverishly.

“Wow...thanks! No one has ever said that to me face to face! Umm...before I say what I am about to say, I need to know your name....” I began. “Ryan.” He replied. “Ok Ryan. I think you’re really cute too!” Ryan grinned and said, “I thought you were going to yell at me for saying that or something!” I giggled and said “Nah, I’m a nice girl remember?!” “So who are you staying with?” Ryan asked.

“Oh my gosh!! Speaking of which...I’m staying with a friend and I have totally forgot about her!! I have to get going! It’s been nice getting to know you!” I said waving. “Hey! Wait! I still don’t know your name!” Ryan called out after me. I turned around and said, “Lucy! My name’s Lucy!” Ryan smiled, waved and said, “Bye! Nice meeting you!” I waved back and ran off to find Meg.

My footsteps slowed when I reached the spot Meg and I had set up. Meg wasn’t there anymore. Everything of ours, the stereo, our towels, everything, was gone. My heart started to race. I shielded my eyes, surveying the beach, trying to find Meg. I sighed in frustration. ‘How am I supposed to find her with all these people around?’ I thought. I looked at my watch. I hadn’t been that long at the ice cream stand. Meg knew where I went...and she wouldn’t just leave me like this...would she? ‘Meg’s gotta be here somewhere...’ I thought and started searching for her.

3 hours later.....Now I was really feeling bad. I walked into the bathroom and looked at my red, sunburned skin. I walked around the beach, trying to find Meg, with no luck. I only had the few dollars in my hand that I was going to use to buy ice-cream with, definitely not enough to get home. I called Meg’s house. No one was home. I hid in one of the bathroom stalls and started crying. I was miles from home, and I was sure I would be stranded here if I didn’t find Meg. I quieted my sobs as I heard a bunch of girls enter the bathroom.

“Ah! The BSB were just GREAT! Didn’t Nick look just great?!” some girl said happily.

“Oh definately, but what was with that girl up front? She was lugging all her stuff with her. I mean, she had her umbrella, her stereo, and 2 duffel bags with her!!! What was she trying to do?!”

‘Two duffel bags? Meg?!!’ I thought. I burst out of the stall. “Um... excuse me, that girl, with all that stuff at the BSB show, was she wearing a red bathing suit?” I asked the group. They nodded, “Do you know her?”

“Yeah, and I have been trying to find her since....”

“Wow, she’s darn lucky...she got pulled on stage with Nick! And I think she got to go backstage with them.” One girl said glumly.

My eyes widened. “Really!? Can you tell me where the show was held?”

“Um...you have to go past the beach, and into the green hills over there.” One girl directed.

“Oh! Thanks so much!” I said, and with that, I dashed out of the washrooms.

As soon as I passed the sandy beaches, I saw the stage where BSB had preformed. Crew people were already taking the stage down. But there was no Meg in sight. “Dammit! Where is she!?” I muttered. I sat down under a tree and started to think.

‘How could Meg LIE to me like that?! DJ’s that played jokes on the air? How could I have fell for that?! Geez...and to think Meg was such a great friend. Now I have no money and no way to get home....what am I supposed to do!?’ I hugged my knees close to my chest and put my head on my knees. I was exhausted. Slowly, I began to drift off and soon, I was asleep.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

“Excuse me miss? Miss?”

I groggily rubbed my eyes. “Sorry, but the park is going to close in a few minutes.” I nodded and got up. The sky was darkening. My heart dropped. ‘Now what am I supposed to do?’ I thought. I walked back towards the beach. The sun was setting and I just had to stay and watch. I sat on the docks and admired the orange and red sky.

“Lucy?! You’re still here?!” Someone said from behind me. I whirled around, hoping it was Meg. Instead, it was Ryan.

“Ryan!! Oh! Am I ever GLAD to see you!!!” My hopes of getting home rose. Ryan looked confused.

I sighed. “It’s a very long story. To make it shorter, all I have to say is that I’m basically stranded here.”

“WHAT?!! How’d this happen? Where’s that person you were staying with go?” He asked with concern.

I shock my head. “I dunno. She just got up and left. I tried looking for her, but she’s nowhere to be found....” My voice trailed off.

“Wow...some friend...”

I was quiet. “Don’t worry. I’ll take you home.” Ryan offered.

“Uh...that could be a problem, cause I don’t know Meg’s address.”

“Not even her phone number?”

“I have her number...but no one was home when I last called...but that was hours ago, maybe someone is home now?”

“Let’s try it out.” Ryan said and led me to a phone booth. I dialed the number, praying for someone to pick up. It just rang and rang. “No one is home....” I said with my shoulders drooping.

“Don’t worry, you can stay at my place for tonight.” Ryan said softly.

I looked up at him. “Are you sure?” He nodded.

“My roommate is on vacation, so there’s a free bed for you!” He said with a smile.

I grinned and nodded. “I would like that very much. Thanks. You’re a lifesaver!” He shrugged. “It’s the least I can do!”

I hope you liked what I have so far!! More will be added soon!
