"Oh God! That is one heck of a storm! It nearly snowed me off my feet!" exclaimed Lucy as she stepped into her house brushing snow off her yellow wind-breaker. Her two friends followed behind, and upon entering, started for the fireplace in the living room.
"Hey!" yelled Lucy as they bumped her aside, "That's not fair!" One of her friends turned around, pulling her cap off her blond hair, "When will you learn that life itself is never fair?" she asked with a cheeky grin. Lucy slapped her lightly on her arm, and playfully pushed her onto the sofa.
"Here Lucy, I'll help you kill Tyra! She still owes me her life for shoving me into the snow just now!" The brunette with the long brown hair gave an evil smile as she walked over. Soon, feathers were flying into the air as the three friends pummelled each other with the cushions, creating their own personal "snow" storm inside the house.
Finally, when they ran out of cushions, all of them fell to the floor exhausted, their faces pink with laughing. When the laughter finally ceased, Tyra lay down comfortably on the floor, leaving the two of them sitting in the midst of the falling feathers.
"Oh no!" Lucy suddenly moaned, "This is NOT happening to me" She looked at the mess around her. The feathers were everywhere! On the carpets, in the vases of flowers, even in the fish tank. The poor fish was glubbing the feathers, probably trying to eat it. But it decided that it wasn't very appetising and shot off into the little "house" inside the tank. Lucy gave a dejected sigh.
"Guess I'll have to clean the mess up now, it's a good thing that mum and dad had decided to bring Gavin to England for the winter or I'll probably be dinner tonight!" Lucy's parents have decided to let her be in charge of the house by some incredible luck and had allowed Tyra and Peggy to keep Lucy company while they were away with Lucy's younger brother, Gavin.
"Yup, yup, you go do that, me and Tyra are just going to lie down here and take a long sweet rest..." Peggy placed her hands behind her head and laid down on the carpet floor, next to Tyra who already had her eyes closed.
"Oh no you don't! Tyra Smith and Peggy Ellis, you two are going to help me clean this place up, pick up every single fleck of a feather, stuff them back into the pillows AND on top of that, vacuum this place, now!" She managed to drag the two of them up with all her strength, which was pretty surprising for a girl who is only 5 feet tall, and pushed them into the store room to get the vacuum cleaner.
Just as the vacuum cleaner was taken out, the doorbell rang a couple of times. It sounded really urgent to Lucy and she was surprised as she wasn't expecting anyone. She hurried to the door and opened it slightly. She laid her eyes on a rather stubbly but handsome face of a man who has the most incredible green eyes.
"Hi, can I help you?" She kept the door between herself and the man so that only her head could be seen.
"Yes, please." The man's deep voice rumbled out huskily. He must be at least 24 years old, Lucy thought. He continued, "Me and 4 of my friends decided to come down here for a holiday, but the snow storm was so bad that the engine just died out due to the cold as well as the heavy snow. We were all freezing out there and your house is that nearest house to the van, so I was wondering if you could let us come in, warm ourselves and use the phone. We won't be too much trouble, I promise. We just need to call the towing company or something and get us out of this place to the hotel."
"Well..." Lucy bit her lower lip, indecisive. She wanted to help this guy and his friends, but what if they are robbers or kidnappers, someone horrible!
She was about to say something when Tyra appeared and opened the door wide.
"What's goin- Oh, hi. May we help you?" She smiled sweetly at the stranger, her dimples deepened like crazy and her green eyes lit up. Lucy rolled her eyes. Tyra was always a little boy-crazy and an incredible flirt, but you couldn't blame her for she was really pretty and every boy's dreamdate. It was always a procedure for her to pick up any good-looking guys she settled her eyes on, and there was one just standing outside in the front porch and Lucy knew in her heart that he wouldn't be able to get out of her clutches.
"Erm... yes," The man's eyes suddenly widened upon seeing the pretty blond in front of him. "I was just wondering if, erm, you girls would let me and my friends come in and warm ourselves as well as use the phone, cos it's really freez-"
"Of course we would!" Tyra smiled again, ignoring Lucy's incredulous stare. "Me and my friends don't mind one bit, right Luce?" Lucy nodded her head unwillingly, she knew that Tyra would be able to talk her way into anything and decided to just let her do whatever she wanted. It was after all winter and she decided that there wouldn't be anybody in their right mind who would come out into the snowstorm just to rob a couple of dollars from a bunch of girls in a tiny house.
"Great! I will just go get my friends over here now. By the way, my name's Kevin, and you don't know how grateful I am to have met such lovely ladies like you." Kevin gave them a huge smile, making Tyra's heart suddenly flutter, and trudged off into the snow, in the direction of the road which was now covered in a thick layer of snow.
"I can't believe that you actually agreed to let them into my house! If my parents find out we've got strangers in here, they will KILL me!" Lucy almost shouted.
"Hey chill! Don't worry Luce, I promise that if there is any mess at all, I will clean it up personally and, don't you think that he is just divine?" Tyra squealed girlishly and grinned at Lucy. "I think I'm in love..."
"Tyra," Lucy began, "You ALWAYS think you are in love. This is like the second guy you've been in love with, today alone! You thought you were in love with the waiter at lunch, remember?"
"Oh, him." She flicked her strawberry blond hair behind her back, and thoughtfully twirled a stray strand of hair around her finger. "Well, he's just an ordinary everyday boy-next-door, good-looking kinda guy. Let's just say that I have a good feeling about Kevin..."
Moments later, the both of them heard the sound of snow crunching coming nearer and nearer to them. Kevin and 4 other guys shivered as they appeared on the porch. Lucy immediately pulled the door open and stepped aside, letting them in. As they walked by her, they each gave her a tired smile and a quick thank you. Lucy just smiled back at them. But when a pair of baby blues lingered upon her eyes, she couldn't help but gaze into them. They are the most incredible, deepest blue that she had ever seen and she felt her knees go weak. She managed to tear her gaze away after what seemed like centuries though, and immediately lowered her head, blushing as she knew that she had been staring. The cute blond guy with the baby blues immediately took off his wintercap and she saw his longish fringe fall down gently, framing his face perfectly. She gave him a small smile as he half-grinned at her and said in a gentle voice, "Thank you for letting us stay." Suddenly, the thought of her getting into trouble totally disappeared and all she could see were beautiful baby blue eyes staring intently into her brown eyes. She knew that she won't regret letting Tyra invite them in.
No, not one bit.
The whole group of them trotted into the living room. Lucy was still tingling after that moment when their eyes made contact. She had definitely felt a sort of electricity there. When she finally realised that they were in the living room, she gave out a gasp when she saw that they had promptly forgotten to clean up the feathers and poor Peggy was there trying to stuff several feathers into the pillow cases. She looked surprised to see the guys enter the room, but smiled when Tyra quickly explained. Lucy managed to stutter out an explanation when the guys puzzled expression followed the feathers lying all over the place.
"Oh I see," the guy with the red and yellow dyed hair said. "for a moment I thought that you girls were trying to pluck feathers off a bird for dinner or something." He grinned and Peggy giggled.
"Well, if you really want to know, we haven't had dinner yet but I'll be cooking, so you guys are more than welcome to join us." She pushed her brown hair back into a high ponytail, and continued, "We'll be having macaroni and cheese tonight."
"That's really kind of you, thank you very much and I'm sure it'll taste wonderful." Kevin said with a sparkle in his eye. Peggy gave a graceful curtsy and smiled at them before going into the kitchen.
"So, she's the chef?" Kevin asked Lucy as he took his jacket off.
"Yeah. Both of us are actually. Tyra's just here to enjoy." She teased.
"Hey!" Tyra said, giving her a warning look.
"Oops! Hit a nerve! Anyway, I think I ought to be cleaning up this place before dinner," She sighed, "This is going to take such a LONG time!"
"Hey no problem, all of us will be more than glad to help you, it's the least we can do after you all let us stay for dinner." The blond guy said. The rest of the guys nodded with agreement and started bending over and picking up the feathers. Lucy gave them all a grateful smile, but she couldn't help but notice that the cute blond's smile had been directed at her and she knew that goosepimples were forming all over her body.
"Mmmmm... that's smells incredible!" All of the guys said as they entered the dining room. Lucy was impressed, not only had Peggy not burn the cheese, she had set the table perfectly and the delicious smell of baked cheese filled the halls and floated into their noses, making their stomachs growl with hunger. Peggy took out the last two plates for Tyra and Lucy, and announced, "Let's dig in!" Everyone settled around the table and as Tyra picked up her fork, she realised that they haven't even introduced themselves to the guys properly yet and they didn't even know the guys' names!
"Oh yeah, that's right! We have to put that right, now don't we?" Kevin said. "As you know, I'm Kevin and I'm twenty seven." He threw Tyra a knowing smile and Lucy recognised the way Tyra was flirting with him. She had told her once, "It's all in the eyes." Lucy finally had the first hand account on how to flirt, Tyra-style. The guy with the red and yellow hair spoke up, "I'm Alex, but people usually call me A.J. I'm twenty-one." Another guy with dirty blond hair and an incredible jawline said in a sultry voice, "I'm Brian and I'm twenty three and next to me is Nick, he's nineteen and my best pal." He playfully punched Nick on the arm and the cute guy Lucy was so engrossed in gave the girls a shy, self-conscious smile and punched Brian back.
"Hey." He said simply, but his eyes were smiling as he turned to look from one girl to the other. When his gaze landed on Lucy again, he widened his smile and cocked his head to a side, as if of recognition. Lucy turned away coyly, and asked the last person, who had his hair slicked back and tied up by a rubber band, what his name was. He looked extremely Spanish and she found him quite interesting.
"I'm Howard, but the guys prefer to call me Howie. I'm twenty four."
All the three girls gave them friendly smiles and started introducing themselves to the guys. Peggy re-adjusted her hair and fluttered her eyes a little at A.J before saying. "I'm Peggy and I must say, I've never seen a guy with such an incredible hairstyle before." A.J gave her a quick grin, and Lucy looked again at his hair twisted above his head. It was coloured with reds and yellows and looked most peculiar, but Peggy always did liked guys who were very different. Her last boyfriend had about 6 holes in his face alone. He had a tongue ring, a nose hole, an eyebrow hole and two earholes on his left ear, one on his right. Who knows how many more holes he might have on his body. The thought made Lucy shudder. Lucy had found him kind of scary but Peggy claimed that he was sweet. The funny thing was Peggy wouldn't do anything to herself to make her look different, she wore ordinary T-shirts and jeans, but most guys were attracted to her sense of humour and infectious laugh. As well as her beautiful brown eyes and her hair, which she always fiddled around with. She had a way around guys and had the ability to make them feel at home. Lucy spents hours trying to tell her how guys loved being around her, but she wouldn't listen and accept that fact and kept saying that she looks gross. In the end, Lucy gave up on her. Tyra introduced herself next, "I'm Tyra and I'm twenty two. I'm the oldest here. Peggy's nineteen and Lucy here is eighteen." She gave Kevin a huge smile before allowing her gaze to flow across the other guys' faces. Lucy stiffled a giggle, it was always funny for her to see Tyra look so authoratitive. Tyra's response was a glare that made Lucy squirm and she pretended not to see her and just said, "I guess I've already been introduced by Tyra and I'm sure that we are all really hungry now, so let's eat!"
