This much I know from my own research. Vitamin and minerals are not classed as drugs and therefore are not governed by the strict regulation provided by the Pharmisutical laws. Instead, vitamin supplements are classed as food and regulated by the FDA. The problem is, that the regulation for food provides only that the product will not cause harm to the consumers. It does not regulate that the product passes testing involving the potency or quality of the product, nor does it punish companies that do not provide the exact components provided for on the label.

Thus far I have never seen this guarantee on a supplement bottle other than Usana. Furthermore, Usana has voluntarily agreed to be regulated by the Pharmatsutical code. To my knowledge, Usana is the only supplement company with this level of regulation. Its head, is a scientist by the name of Dr Myron Wentz. He holds a Phd in immunology & biology and has been practising for over 40 years.
