The INTERNET, in the words of Marshall McLuhan, has truly become a "global
village" that instantly connects people without regard to time or space limitations.
However, the role of female bodybuilding has to change along with this
new medium. It can no longer be an exclusive domain of certain athletes, promoters,
or traditional media that keeps its fans at a distance. Now, female bodybuilding
has an unique opportunity to become a GLOBAL FORCE. That means a girl from say
Czechoslovakia has an equal chance to display her excellence in female muscle
as her affluent sisters in the States that are able to put-up their own webpages.
Please don't misinterpret this as some kind of criticism -- any bodybuilder (male or
female) has a right to promote themselves via any medium that is effective -- and
they deserve all the credit due to their efforts on the training floor or on the
competitive circuits.
But, my point is that female bodybuilding fans also have the right to have a
ringside seat to judge, applaud, and congratulate their personal favorites.
The road to excellence of female muscle is now open more widely to everyone
than ever before. And the INTERNET will re-enforce the high caliber of female
bodybuilding as never before in the history of athletic achievement.
