[On Nov 8, 1997, my first grandchild, Sarah, was born.
I wrote this for her.]

A Prayer for Sarah

Bless this new being,
Creator of all,
For she is your child.

Bless her eyes that she
May see you everywhere,
In everyone and everything.

Bless her ears that she
May hear your voice
In the running stream,
In the whispering wind,
In laughter and tears and song.

Bless her mouth that she
May praise your works.

Bless her hands that they
May always be gentle.

Bless her heart that it
May always be tender.

Bless her feet that she
May walk the Path of Joy.

I am Life.
I am the soil that nurtures the seed.
I am breath and blood and living stone.
I am the Song the Maker Sang
In the Hour before Time began.

How long ago were we born?
We, the single I of Creation,
One but many:
Inescapable...holy.

What are we
That we must be named?
We are not prisoners of the Calling.

My feet are roots,
Endless rivers deep in the womb
Of Mother Earth.
My arms rise to welcome Grandfather's Eye.
My flesh is leaf and grass,
Wing and antler,
Stone and water
Sun
And Moon
And Stars.
One body.

Shod in laughter, I run,
Now a deer, now a fox.
Leviathan leaping.
I rise on Owl's wing,
I plunge, a hawk...
A mole burrowing,
A fish flashing silver-bright
In a crystal pool.

A symphony, a weaving...
A brilliant tapestry
Of light and sound and colour am I...
A single Word,
A chorus,
An exultant...
Absolute...
YES!
"Yes" is the question
And "yes" is the answer.

I am Life.
I am the soil that nurtures the seed.
I am breath and blood and living stone.
I am the Song the Maker Sang
In the Hour before Time began.

"Peace is not a relationship of nations. It is a condition of mind brought about by a serenity of soul. Peace is not merely the absence of war. It is also a state of mind. Lasting peace can come only to peaceful people." ~ (Jawaharlal Nehru)

Hello there. I thought you looked like you might be lost. If you put that delicious looking mouse on my nose I will show you the way back home.
You know the food is pretty good around here but there are twelve of us, so I never pass up the chance for a snack here and there.
Oh!! By the way, my name is Gorgeous George. Sure pleased to meet you.
