I shoulda done this a long while back, but I figured you all
might want to know what you're getting before you do any
downloading. So here we go....
Arctic Hunters - This one's pretty clear-cut. You get a 63
kilobyte melee map. No sounds, no Stardraft effects, just a map.
But it's a good one for B.net.
SpecOps Prequel - A.k.a. the long-talked-about demo. This
will have two playable missions (cut from an originally-planned
three)--one Terran and one Protoss, in that order--with seven of
the SpecOps heroes featured. There will be some Stardraft
effects (mostly amoungst the Protoss), some of which are
mentioned in the weapons and tech section...cool stuff, but not everything that
will be featured in the actual campaign. Like the whole demo,
it's just a taste of things to come. :)
There will be no new sounds, unlike the actual campaign which
will have new music and some other new audio stuff (I'll detail
this later). There will, however, be at least three new
portraits. One of these was made by Ius of SCER and Campaign Creations fame and the other is borrowed from Desler from Campaign Creations. You can probably guess which ones they are, but
if you're not sure, you'll just have to wait for the demo. :)
Both maps have mission briefings and in-game transmission
conversations (without sound), as well. Not a big thing, but....
And that's about it. It's not gonna blow you away, but it's what
demos are meant to be...a teaser. Episode I will have a lot more
to look at (and hear, too!).
Project Overmind - Most of what's in this has already been
described, but here's a quick overview. This is a
"bonus" demo map that is a better taste of what SpecOps
will have to offer than the prequel demo (though that also has
its high points for sure). "Project O" is a remake of
Blizzard's own "Eye of the Storm", the last map of the
original Stacraft game, where you play as the Terrans and Protoss
destroying the Overmind. What this rehash, "Eye of the Storm
II", offers is new sounds (unit sounds and large amounts of
music {especially in the briefing}), the first (though certainly
far from last) "version" of Jay Brockman's portrait,
another portrait from Ius (who gave us the previously-seen Alvar
portrait), a new patch (though it's not too exciting in what it
does), and new surprises and twists in the map itself that make
this a unique experience rather than a "been there, done
that" experience. This is the first real attempt on our
parts to:
A.) combine what we (the staff) have all learned (including out
first attempts at sounds and a full portrait),
B.) blend together the well-known Starcraft universe with that of
SpecOps, and
C.) give you a taste of what all the Episode I maps will be like.
Hope you enjoy it...go get all three parts below!
Arctic Hunters - This is a nice little multiplayer melee map I
made that is quite popular with certain folks on B.Net. A nice
alternative for the Hunters fans out there. I made this one from
scratch...it's not just another lame edit of the Hunters map. Try
it and see for yourself. (63 KB; Zip format)
SpecOps: Prequel Demo - It's Here! Just open up the
accompanying .txt file for instructions and enjoy! (3.2 MB; Zip

SpecOps:

SpecOps: Project Overmind (Map - Part I) and SpecOps:
Project Overmind (Map - Part II)
- It took forever to actually upload it, but it's here! Open up
the included readme for help installing and enjoy! (2.8 MB/2.4

[IMPORTANT NOTICE: I don't know if a computer without WinRAR will
recognize the four files in ProjectO1 and ProjectO2, and may
attempt to change the extentions. Be sure you end up with:
ProjectOvermind.exe, ProjectOvermind.r00, ProjectOvermind.r01,
and ProjectOvermind.r02 on your drive when all is said and done.
Do NOT let the computer change the extention of the files if it
attempts to! If the names remain exactly as they are in the ZIPs,
then they should self-extract fine when you run the EXE.]
