Episode I Heroes
I will post the other heroes eventually (those from Episodes II and III), but probably not until Episode I has been released. I don't want to spoil anything. :P
CAST OF HEROES:
SpecOps:
Capt. James Raynor
(Marine, Vulture, Battlecruiser Hyperion) - SpecOps Commander:
Hailed by the Terrans and Protoss alike as a great leader and
warrior, and greatly respected by all who have had the
opportunity to work with him, Jim Raynor was the perfect choice
for head of SpecOps. Though he was very reluctant in taking the
job, Raynor has fashioned the SpecOps team into a formidable
force, and has once again proven himself an excellent leader.
Raynor intends to keep true his vow to rid the universe of Sarah
Kerrigan, the Queen of Blades....
Lt. Cmdr. Jay
"Smokie" Brockman (Firebat) - SpecOps
Assault/Demolitions Specialist: One of the few Terrans to survive
the assault on the original Overmind, Brockman has stuck with
Raynor ever since and the two have become good friends. He was
Raynor's choice for second-in-command of SpecOps, but Mengsk
turned them both down. If Brockman has any ill feelings about
this, he has yet to show it...he has more than earned his spot on
the SpecOps team, and though not second-in-command, Brockman is
still the one Raynor turns to for most of his counseling and
advice.
Cmdr. Julie
Kerrigan (Kerrigan Ghost unit) SpecOps Second-in-Command;
Infiltration Specialist: Separated from her sister Sarah early on
in their childhoods, Julie has few memories of her. But when she
heard that Sarah had become the Queen of Blades, a fire began to
burn in Julie that led her to fight nearly in a frenzy whenever
she went out to battle for the Dominion. Quickly rising through
the ranks as a result of her bravery in battle, Mengsk took
notice of this sister of his former second-in-command and, though
Julie lacked the psionic potential of her sister, offered her a
position as second-in-command of SpecOps as the team's ghost
specialist. Kerrigan gladly took the position, learning only
later that she had been offered it mainly because of her ties
with her sister. Though mistrusted a bit by Raynor, she has
gained the respect and admiration of the team and proven herself
worthy.
Col. "Heavy"
Frank Kauflin (Goliath) - SpecOps Heavy Fire Support Member:
Kauflin never wanted to be part of the Dominion, but after he and
his UED comrades were left behind by the fleeing Admiral DuGalle,
he saw little choice of survival without joining up with his
fellow Terrans under Mengsk. His formerly UED squadron has become
one of the better-respected in the Dominion, scoring countless
victories against Kerrigan and, recently, the Crimson Phoenix as
well. When Raynor suggested the addition of a heavy support
member to SpecOps, the goliath was the natural choice, and in
Mengsk's eyes, Kauflin was the natural choice as the goliath
pilot. Though some, including Kauflin himself, suspect that his
appointment was a move to influence the few remaining UED
squadrons into joining the Dominion, Kauflin does his duty just
fine, thank you, and has struck up a friendship with Brockman and
a bond with the entire team.
Col. Amy
"Phoenix" Johnston (Wraith) - SpecOps Air Support Member:
The introduction of female pilots to the wraith squadrons under
Mengsk brought the young Amy Johnston into the spotlight.
Shooting through the ranks at an unprecedented rate, Johnston
eventually became the first female commander of a wraith
squadron, and one of the best pilots in the Dominion, to boot.
Mengsk's appointment of her as SpecOps' air support member came
as no real surprise, but Amy was overjoyed anyway, and has
exceeded expectations in her duty. There are rumors that in his
infamous political moves, Mengsk appointed Amy over several more
capable male pilots, but no one dares say so, and Johnston is
more than capable of the tasks assigned to her.
Other Heroes:
Prelate Zeratul (Dark
Templar, Corsair, Carrier Thanatos) - Respected Leader of the
Dark Templar: Returning to the Koprulu Sector mere weeks before
the start of the campaign, Zeratul immediately sought out Praetor
Artanis and Jim Raynor, conferring with both about the existence
of the hybrids. After finding out that both already know and that
SpecOps has been formed and the Terran and Protoss armies have
been prepared to address the threat, Zeratul offers the
assistance of his faithful dark templar brethren and other
Protoss warriors that joined his ranks on a visit to the world of
Dorasida. Given command of much of the Protoss armies by Artanis,
Zeratul stands ready to aid SpecOps in their mission in any way
he can with a newfound fervor that he has gained while away from
the sector to places he refuses to speak of.
Rond (High Templar)
[Fall From Grace campaign hero used by permission of
"his" creator, Desler] - Former Protoss Outcast;
Protégé to Zeratul: When Zeratul stopped to rest on Dorasida on
his way back to the Koprulu Sector, several Protoss warriors
there asked to join his ranks, wishing to return to their people.
Finding a new fighting spirit in aiding the Dorasidians in their
civil war, Rond decided to join as well and return to his
homeland, despite his fearfulness of what awaits him after his
so-called "betrayal" of his people. Returning to Aiur
at last, Rond was surprised to be welcomed back by the forgiving
Protoss survivors, desperate for assistance and sorrowful for the
poor judgements of the destroyed Conclave. Rond has become
somewhat of an apprentice to Zeratul and seeks to learn the power
the dark templar possess.
Praetor Artanis
(Scout) - Leader of the Protoss: Leading his fellow Protoss
warriors for nearly two years, Artanis has kept his people alive
and active, retaking Aiur from the Zerg and building up an army
to beat back both Kerrigan and Duran. Though burdened down by the
death of so many of his fellow people, Artanis's youthfulness has
yet to leave him, and he remains the very popular leader of the
Protoss and a stalwart warrior in battle. Overjoyed to see
Zeratul and Raynor return, Artanis has vowed to aid them both
with all he has to offer.
Executor Alvar (Zealot) - Protoss Warrior; Friend/Companion of Jim Raynor: While Raynor was ultimately in charge of the Protoss that traveled with him, Alvar was the one unanimously decided to be the "head" of his people in Raynor's company. Alvar is young and full of life, though he has already seen his share of war. His entire family was killed by Kerrigan's broods, and as a result, Alvar has a deep hatred for the Zerg, especially their Queen. He longs for the day when he can avenge his family, and therefore continues to stick close to Raynor as he faces their common enemy.
Emperor Arcturus Mengsk (Battlecruiser Norad IV {not playable in Episode I}) - Leader of the Terran Dominion: The perfect politician and an excellent leader, Emperor Mengsk has remained the undisputed leader of the Terran Dominion since its creation. Despite heavy losses to the Zerg and terrorists, he has held the Dominion together and still maintains a formidable empire. But even Mengsk knows he can not hold out forever, and had for months before Raynor's return set about preparing a special operations team designed to turn the tide of battle. Raynor's arrival on the scene finalized plans, and Mengsk took great pains to try and absolve past animosities with Raynor and the Protoss. He has changed from the self-reliant, power-hungry man he once was--the Terran/Protoss alliance was Mengsk's idea--but he remains, at times, overconfident.
Executor Nelgala (Dragoon) - Veteran Protoss Warrior: A good friend of the late Fenix, Nelgala fought alongside him in many major battles until the Zerg overran the province of Antioch, and Nelgala was forced to flee with a few other survivors and leave his friend behind. Later learning that Fenix was alive, Nelgala joined up with him again just prior to the destruction of the Overmind. He fought bravely with his old friend over several worlds until Fenix was struck down by the murderous Queen of Blades in a battle in which Nelgala himself was also overcome by the Zerg. Now residing in a dragoon, the veteran warrior has plodded on and become executor of a small defensive post near the former location of Antioch, where he sees little action. But Nelgala's heart is still in battle, and with his fallen comrade. All he needs is the right opportunity to return to battle.

Lt. Cmdr. Mark Brown
(Siege Tank) - Commander, Mirnos II Outpost 'El Toro': Brown commands one of the few Dominion outposts on the largely-unsettled, resource-rich jungle world of Mirnos II. His base is one of the toughest on the planet, and has successfully arrested more would-be resource pirates than any other Dominion force. He is your rather typical Dominion commanding officer about to be thrown into a rather atypical situation....
Rear Admiral Robert Burton (???) - Commander, New Roanoke Space Platform: "Robbie" Burton was one of the strongest supporters of the construction of New Roanoke Space Platform, a station co-run by the Terran Dominion and the Protoss. As a result of his strong support and overseeing of the project, Emperor Mengsk unexpectantly offered him the daunting task of running the station. Burton gladly accepted...not knowing what he was getting himself into.
Lt. Vic Kaldor (Ghost) - Third-in-Command, New Roanoke Space Platform: A young warrior, Kaldor was one of the first trained in the new, “toned-down” Dominion ghost program, allowing him to escape the severe genetic tampering of his predecessors. Third-in-command of the newly constructed New Roanoke Dominion/Protoss station in orbit above Aiur, Kaldor has no idea of the trials to come, or the future destined to be his....
(Sarah) Kerrigan (Infested Kerrigan unit {not playable in Episode I}) - Leader of the Zerg Swarms: Kerrigan remains as ruthless and powerful as ever, with almost the entirety of the Zerg swarms at her command. But she is not as reckless in sacrificing her forces as she used to be, and has been known to retreat from battle more often than before. After the Brood Wars, she abandoned entire planets, including the seeming crown jewel of Aiur, to draw her forces closer together for a threat she senses but has not yet seen. Kerrigan has only recently rediscovered Samir Duran, and is bent on destroying the traitor. But she is aware only of the small broods commanded by Duran, and not his greater weapon....
Samir Duran (Infested Ghost {not playable in Episode I}) - Leader of Zerg Broods; Creator/Leader of Hybrids: No one is truly sure of Duran's motives in the Koprulu Sector, but everyone is aware that he is up to something, and most know of his hybrids. Duran has not been known to do battle with anyone outside of his own self-declared territory yet, and the Terrans, Protoss, and Kerrigan all hope it will remain that way.
But Duran has other plans....
Devlin Ward (Battlecruiser Nemesis {not playable in Episode I}) - Leader of Crimson Phoenix: Like the men of Crimson Phoenix that he commands, Ward hates the Terran Dominion and its emperor,
convinced that he would do a much better job at uniting and
leading the Terran people. Ward has formed a small but powerful
militia intent on bringing Mengsk down. Fortunately not yet
having to face the Zerg, Ward is hoping to topple the Dominion
before Kerrigan takes notice of him.
