Episode 1 Story

SpecOps takes place approximately two years after Brood War. Kerrigan, the Queen of Blades, has gained control of almost all the Zerg broods, save several small but very powerful broods seized by the traitorous Samir Duran. The Terran Dominion is going strong, with Arcturus Mengsk still in command, but several terrorist Terran organizations have sprung up against him, just as what happened with the now-defunct Terran Confederacy. One group in particular, the Crimson Phoenix, led by former Dominion commander Devlin Ward, has been causing Mengsk major headaches in recent times, pecking away at the Dominion at the same time that the Zerg threaten to tear it down entirely....

The Protoss have begun rebuilding their homeworld of Aiur, retaken from the few remaining Zerg left after Kerrigan unexpectantly pulled her forces back after the Brood Wars. But now the Zerg under both Kerrigan and Duran have returned to a planet barely holding its own. Shakuras has escaped the brunt of the zerg attacks, but Protoss warriors have been disappearing in recent days without a trace....

Facing these enemies, Mengsk finally overcomes his pride and forms a strong alliance with the Protoss. But even together, these two races face a seemingly overwhelming threat....

It is in the midst of this chaos that Jim Raynor and his band of Terran and Protoss warriors returned to the Koprulu Sector a year and a half after fleeing Kerrigan's wrath. Proceeding immediately to Mengsk himself, Raynor revealed a whole new danger he had discovered during his travels...Duran's hybrids. Though many still await their full evolution, several of the creatures have already developed and are prepared to strike at the Koprulu Sector. Raynor sets aside past differences and offers his help to the Dominion and the Protoss, and SpecOps is formed.

SpecOps is a small, five-member team composed of the best warriors the Dominion has to offer. Headed up by Jim Raynor, this group has been given the task of leading the Terrans and the Protoss to victory over their enemies, once and for all.
