MAGIC Local Council Meeting Minutes

December 15, 2002

Members present:

Caridwyn, Omega, Puck, Pat, Shakti, Rhiannon

Meeting called to order at 12:15 PM

The minutes of the last meeting were approved, with the exception that today's meeting would be held at Pat's house, instead of Puck's.

Emeritus Report

Puck performed a legal wedding the week before. It was a handfasting designed as a Christian wedding. He will also be conducting a handfasting at Convocation.

New people interested in joining MAGIC

Rhiannon - a dedicant and soon to be first degree initiate in Moon Mist Rising, also founder of her own sisterhood - White Mare Sanctuary (www.hometown.aol.com/whitemaresanctuary/myhomepage)

Brigid - former member of Circle of Wondrous Stories, now wants to join MAGIC as a solitary

Judith - also wants to join as a solitary

Officer's Reports

First Officer - Omega

Some assets have been recovered which had been considered missing a year ago. These consisted of two boxes containing cups, plates, raffle tickets, tea lights, a 5 subject notebook and other consumable items. These were logged in with the Pursewarden, then given to Caridwyn to take care of.

Convocation - Omega suggested that we set up a room party meet and greet to promote COG and MAGIC. She requested financial assistance for the room, which she would also stay in. After discussion and a vote, it was agreed that MAGIC would pay for half the cost of the room.

Membership Officer - Caridwyn

Shakti has now passed the second degree initiation and wants to file for ministerial papers with COG. She gave Caridwyn the completed papers and a check for $20.

Pursewarden - Pat

We have found that we do indeed need to have a real bank account for MAGIC and not just the shoebox treasury as we have been doing for the past 6 months, to comply with National. After discussion and vote, it was agreed to set up a savings account at Comerica Bank. Pat will take care of this.

As of today, all membership dues are paid. Puck paid today, so his coven's payment is not reflected in the attached Pursewarden's report.

New Business

There was a discussion and vote on whether or not to have meetings on a quarterly basis. This was approved unanimously. It was also agreed that the meetings should start at noon. The dates were set for 2003 - April 6, July 6 & October 5. The April meeting will be held at Pat's house, and the July meeting at Puck's house. No decision was made on who would host the October meeting.

Psychic Fair 2003

Proposed date - September 28, from noon to 6:00 PM.

It was also proposed that we not send out mailings for the psychic fair, to instead put an ad in Phenomenews and Between the Lines. We should also contact The Seeker for an announcement. This should take place no later than July 1. Pat will contact John and Caridwyn will contact Phenomenews, Between the Lines and Affirmations.

On hosting rituals, it was again noted that we continue to be too small to do this effectively. It was proposed that Puck should contact the Federation of Circles and Solitaries to see if they will let us co-host their Beltane and to let us have a raffle table.

Meeting closed at 1:18 PM

Respectfully submitted,

Shakti
