Officer Reports
First Officer- Puck has been busy with a few new students. He is planning on going to Merry Meet and is considering running for national membership officer.
Second Officer- Report read by Moonowl in Banshee’s absence. "Nothing to report, other than I am having a really great time in Toronto right now as you are hearing this! I had been working with Omega on egroup guidelines, which I hope will be approved as written. And, I have been thinking a lot about how to defray costs for Merry Meet travel expenses. The poll is now closed and 4 of 6 people believed we should just use profits from 2 raffles/auctions. no one wanted to NOT assist MM travelers, and no one voted for adding an additional event to our calendar to fund these trips.
Membership Officer- COWS still does not have their charter. Also, credentials have still not come through. Figment will give the national contact a list of those that filed for credentials.
Pursewarden- Given by Caridwyn in Mari’s absence. After Beltane we have $1519.84 and $110 petty cash. We have received the COG pins to sell. They are $15 a piece. We have $300 worth to sell.
Recorder- Last meetings minutes are in the Beltane issue of the COG newsletter. Nothing else to report.
Board Contact/ PIO- Chicagoland council is on a provisional basis. Right now they have one officer. Figment suggested to national that they get an directional mike for the grand council meeting so it is easier to hear everyone on the recordings that are made. A local group had a nice write up in the paper about their Earth Day activities.
Old Business
National Officer- Puck wishes to run for national membership officer. He wishes to put together a system for the membership officer and to help things get out on time. Both Caridwyn and Kala said they would be interested in helping out.
Lady Liberty Ritual- All ritual participants need to be there by 1:30pm. It is at the west boat launch at Kenniston Park. The music that she found is in the key of C for any of the musicians that need to know. Anyone wishing a copy of the script Kala would gladly e-mail it to you.
Travel stipend for Merry Meet- As a council we wish to work on getting Puck, Figment, and Omega there. Figment is covered for the registration as a national officer. Both Figment and Puck will be applying for the national travel stipend. Those have to be sent out before July 5th. We have $436 from the raffle/auction at Beltane that we can use to help out those going. Proposal passed by consensus that the raffle money be used to pay Puck and Omega’s registration and the remainder to help with travel expenses for Figment ,Puck, and Omega.
E-group Guidelines- Proposal passed by consensus that accept the guidelines as they are written, and that if they need to be amended they may.
New Business
permanent meeting Space- Affirmations in Ferndale has a rate of $15 an hour at a two hour minimum. The smaller room is an even better rate. It has a good central location. Proposal passed by consensus to start holding meetings at affirmations. Kala gave Puck the information to set up the room for the next meeting.
Election of Officers- Anyone that wishes to run for an office needs to voice their desire to do so and at the election can give a statement of why they would like the position. Voting can be done by a show of hands. The vote ill take place at the next meeting in August at Affirmations before the group ritual workshop. Anyone that will not be able to attend the meeting may send their vote along with someone that is going.
The possible ballot as it stands at the meeting...
1st Officer- Puck
2nd Officer-Kala
Membership-Caridwyn
Recorder- Open
Pursewarden- Open
PIO- Figment
Publications- Omega
If anyone else from any of the members group wish to run for an office post it to the e-group so they can be added to the ballot.
Events- Mostly tabled this discussion for now. Kala created a letter for the psychic fair stating that vendors must sell goods, and not readings. Proposed that we check the e-group archives and meeting notes to see if Doreen ever mentioned setting a date for Yule.
Merry Meet- For this years Merry Meet we need to make sure we get all the credentials that were applied for settled. Ideas for having Merry Meet 2003/2004 Like the idea of doing it on Labor Day weekend. A couple locations mentioned were Circle Pines, Round Lake recreation area, and where the ADF has there events.
Last tidbits- Figment suggested creating a policy about people coming to join one of our groups to check if the person was formerly involved with one of the other groups in the council. Kala has another great fund raising idea to possibly do next year. A member of her group knows the ins and outs about permits and regulations for holding a casino night.
Next Meeting August 12 at Affirmations in Ferndale
