MISTY DAWN: Singer, Recording Artist, songwriter, President and CEO of RMCMA Records and Colorado Country Music Association Hello, My name is Misty Dawn Scoles and I am a native of Harrison, Arkasas. I grew up in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains with my family as one of 14 children. My Mama played guitar and banjo, while my Daddy played the guitar, fiddle, and the harmonica. My parents never put our musical instruments away. Mom & Dad always wanted us kids to be able to play music anytime we had an urge to. As a result of that premise, 12 of the 14 kids learned to play music. Mom & Dad knew what they were doing all along!! Two of my brothers, Jim & Jesse, had their own radio show on KHOZ-Harrison. They played bluegrass music, which has always been very popular in Arkansas. All of our family get-togethers consisted of playing music. We played for pie suppers, picnics, where ever there was a benefit, my family "The Youngbloods", were called upon to participate with our own brand of Country/Bluegrass/Gospel music. Another fond memory I have of my childhood years is the nightly Bible readings. Every night one of us kids would read a Bible verse and someone else would grab a guitar. We would sing until time for bed. I guess I was born to be a singer (so my family says). I would sing for anyone who'd listen, especially if they paid me a quarter or two!! My Daddy used to take me to the "Osage General Store" and the customers would give me quarters for singing their requests. I just loved that!! Then when I became a teenager I would sneak into the honky tonks & bars and talk the bands into letting me sing songs I had learned from the radio. As I began singing and entertaining our American service men & women at the regional Fort Chaffee, and later took my music to the other bases through out the surrounding states. In looking back, I have had a great number of influenes in my musical career. I remember my favorites were Connie Smith, Kitty Wells, and of course, Loretta Lynn. My family however, has had the greatest impact on my musical career. Had it not been for my dear Mother & Daddy providing us with the opportunity to discover the would of music, I guarantee you, that my CD's wouldn't have been made. They taught me to express my feelings through my music and also that would keep me close to my family, no matter where I might go in later years. My music is sung from the heart. I really only know how to do it that way. I hope you enjoy my life's work to this point. It really all started though in the Ozark Mountains of Northwest Arkansas.
