Previous Vettes

Here are a few of the Corvettes I have owned.

1967 Corvette Coupe VIN 194377S107518

This is my first Vette. In school, a magazine had the ad for the maroon '67 big block called "Deuces Wild". I knew I would have a '67 big block. I got one, but it was not quite the same. This one was originally silver, 427, close ratio 4 speed, 3.70 rear, F41, AC, PS, PW, and sidepipes.

By the time I got it, 7 owners had passed it along in as many years. The silver paint was gone. But it was still fast.

I sold it in June 1976 to a guy who supposedly lived in St. Louis although when I tried to find him a couple of months later, there was no trace of him at the address he left.

Unbelievable! I found it on eBay on 3/2/07 and it is in St. Charles, MO.

1963 Corvette Convertible VIN 30867S100947

The white '63 convertible was about my favorite, at least as fun. This mutt had a 283 +.060, 365 hp intake, Holley, the original BW T-10, '64 seats, '66 dash, '66 doors, '66 headlights, '66 grill, '66 hood with a '67 style scoop, Chrome Sidepipes (not factory ones), and ET mags.

I keep expecting to see it pop up on eBay since it seems like a lot of "restored" '63s and '64s are auctioned there with '65 to '67 interiors, claiming to be "fully restored".

I sold this car to a guy south of Springfield IL in Jan. 1977.

1963 Corvette Coupe VIN 30837S100033

This is the 33rd '63 Corvette built, and had body tag #22, for the 22nd coupe built. The date code was A1 for the first week of production. It could be one of the very first production cars, if the pilot cars used real production serial numbers. I had it for an entire weekend.

This car had a lot of problems. The frame was rusted so badly it broke as we unloaded it off the trailer. It was stripped of virtually everything.

I sold it to Joel Jacobs who lived near Litchfield, IL in August 1987.

1966 Corvette convertible SCCA Race Car VIN 194676S120601

My '66 was hardly stock. Life was hard and all I know is that it was originally Sunfire Yellow (a pale yellow) and in August 1970, State Farm Mutual of Miami cut a check to total it for an engine fire to Ken Clark (or Clarke). It was then repurchased and Ken was supposed to have taken it SCCA racing about this time. It used as an SCCA race car and an NCCC autocrosser for several years, apparently gaining some status.  By the mid '70s, it was more NCCC than SCCA and was heavily modified beyond the SCCA Production rules.

Richard Harris of Ft. Lauderdale bought in around '76 from Jim Wilson in Jacksonville, FL, and raced it in SCCA's ASR class until '83. It was gold over black around 1977 and light blue over dark blue, with the dark blue having a touch of green in it.  He sold it to Mike Briley of Parkland, FL who wanted to use the rust-free frame to restore a '66 coupe.

I bought it from Mike in 1987 and began road racing it in SCCA road racing in 1988. I sold it in 2001 to Troy Martin in Indiana. There is more information in Procrastination Racing's Home Page on it and SCCA racing.

1979 Corvette Coupe VIN 1Z8789S449534

This is the 1979 Corvette coupe I picked up in Orlando in April 2004. The car has been well cared for through most of its life, however, it has been sitting now about a year or so due to mechanical problems. I haven't even taken it off the trailer yet. The rear wheel bearings needed replacing and so I ended up replacing the trailing arms.  I added new carpets and new leather seat covers.  There were many small items that didn't work and I worked on those to have it running well. We had a good time playing with it even though it was not real fast.

Ironically, this color almost made me trade my '68 back in 1979 when the first '79 to show up at the dealer was one of this Light Blue, often called Ice Blue.

I sold this one to a guy in Georgia in March 2006.
