Problems with the pictures ! - sometimes it seems that the pictures do not load.
I have found a solution which does work normally -
RIGHT CLICK ON THE PICTURE AND THEN CLICK ON "SHOW PICTURE"
Good luck !

A trip to Amsterdam during the week and another weekend in Somerset and Devon restricted my activities in and around Oxford. Therefore apologies for the shortage of news this week. The Amsterdam visit provided the opportunity to see the Boeing 737s which have added vinyls relating to the Euro 2000 Cup and as tonight England is playing,  I make no apologies for including a picture of one of these aircraft. It is a Boeing 737-400 which is a KLM type now not often found in London. This route is now operated by new 737-800s in addition to morning peak services which are 767-300ER operated.

The Boeing 737-400 "PH BXD" carrying Euro 200 livery.
The larger of the two players is Beckham !!! - A football covers the top of the aircraft.

News has reached me of the return of the Cambridge Coach Service to Stokenchurch from 9th July 2000. There will be an hourly service for most of the day and night. Additionally the 275 is getting an extra journey in the afternoon peak, so the Oxford-High Wycombe corridor will once again be very well served. Additionally , of course, the Oxford tube stops at Lewknor, providing a 12 minute service in the peak to London.

Meeting an aged Mother off Flightlink this afternoon provided an opportunity to see one of their continental tourers at close quarters, operating the 210 from Birmingham in place of the more usual Volvo Expressliners. The registration was appropriately L I NER .

To add to this weeks variety, apologies to those only interested in buses, I include a picture of an ex Chiltern Railways DMU, now at work on the West Somerset Railway. It was operating a late afternoon service to Minehead from Bishops Lydeard, calling at all stations. The sound of its departure brought back memories of 25 years ago when I sued to travel daily to London Marylebone from High Wycombe on these sets.

Fleet News week ending 10/6/00

Oxford Bus Company (City of Oxford Motor Services)

No further Olympians have as yet returned to service with just 208 and 224 on duty so far. The others are under preparation, so watch this space.

Volvo B10BLE 821 has been sent to Volvo Bristol for repair. It is not known what has so far happened to Dart SLF 408. These are the two buses involved in the recent accident on High Street.

Stagecoach Oxford.

The only item to report is that a number of Tube coaches have lost their large fleet numbers on the upper offside front windows. The reason is not known.

Wycombe Bus Company.

The Volvos ex Oxford are now appearing with their rear and side destinations in use. I wonder if my comments in last weeks page had any bearing on this !!!

I will be pleased to receive your reports for this section
Please send your reports to MalcolmHC@aol.com and thank you for all your sightings, they are most welcome.

Arriva serving The Shires nr 5088, on the 280 from Aylesbury.
These older buses normally only appear on evening workings
when the newer Olympians are kept in the garage.

Oxford Olympians 220 and 222 awaiting attention prior to entering
Q busting service in the next weeks.
They have spent the last few years in Wycombe and
have been replaced by the Volvo B10Bs.

Oxford Tour buses Millennium style.
Ex Plymouth 124 follows ex Edinburgh BFS49L in High Street.
Since the guide Friday buses are being re-liveried and renewed, the Classic Tour
buses are beginning to look somewhat shabby.

Neil Gow kindly sent this excellent picture of Worths Volvo V9WMS.
The picture was taken a few weeks ago in Thame.
