Problems with the pictures ! - sometimes it seems that the pictures do not load.
I have found a solution which does work normally -
RIGHT CLICK ON THE PICTURE AND THEN CLICK ON "SHOW PICTURE"
Good luck !

The week was eventful for Oxford with an unfortunate accident in High Street, details of which are under the Oxford Bus Company heading below.

I have also been asked by the Chinnor and Princes Risborough Railway to mention their web page which will be included in my links soon but the address is http://www.cprra.co.uk and their site is well worth a visit. Indeed the line is most interesting.

The Wycombe Town Centre development involving the bus station is proceeding. It will include a new bus station and garage premises for the Wycombe Bus Company.

The tour coaches are now coming to Oxford in larger numbers and I hope to bring pictures of some of the more interesting coaches in the weeks to come.

Fleet News week ending 20/5/00

City of Oxford Motor Services.

Several unusual sightings again this week on various routes. Saturday saw Volvo B10B 650 on 2 road plus a number of new B10BLEs including 819 and 820 on 2 road on Saturday evening.

A very unfortunate accident occurred on Wednesday evening in High Street when 821 on 15 road ran into the front of Dart SLF 408 on 13 road pushing it into the front of Trident 108. It is unlikely that the two single deckers will be repaired at Oxford and will certainly be off the road for a number of weeks. The event was covered in an edition of The Oxford Times.

The last bus with Cityline vinyls 644 has now received new Oxford Bus Company vinyls, thus completing the new look. There are however a number of stored Olympians including 220-224 which have to be changed prior to entering service on Q busting this summer. Repaints have included 610 as well as 613.

Stagecoach Oxford.

Blue top M A N 920 was working the X50 Stratford route on Saturday in company with Olympian 514. Reader Edmund Trensham notes that Tube coach nr 57 is now the only coach with a plain red rear end, it carries no advertising or lettering of any sort.

Wycombe Bus Company.

Cityline loaned Olympian 224 appears to have returned to Oxford for good and Olympian 240 is in Cowley Road for MOT.

I will be pleased to receive your reports for this section
Please send your reports to MalcolmHC@aol.com and thank you for all your sightings, they are most welcome.

  PHOTO CORNER
If anyone else has a digital camera and wishes to submit photos for this page please send them to the above email.

Oxford Bus 509 seen in Oxford centre working the Wolvercote evening service, 6A,
which is routed via Jericho instead of directly up the Woodstock Road, when it is route 6.
This operates on a 20 minute headway in the evenings and with only two buses
allocated requires some smart running !

Still awaiting Oxford Bus vinyls, 639 is seen entering Queen Street from New Road
whilst working the 4 group routes last Saturday. During the daytime this road is
normally worked by the ex London VNs 644-656.

Tube coach 41 takes the New road corner at speed last Saturday afternoon watched
by the Oxford Bus City centre controller. The picture of Oxford ties in with the
lettering, not always the case on these coaches !

Stagecoach Olympian 521 leaves Gloucester Green to take up service on the
100 service to Witney where most of the buses are based. This one has an
overall advertising livery for a local company selling pine furniture.

Another Witney based Olympian 522 carries a rear end ad for Fox FM
the local independent  radio station. Seen here laying over in the city centre
prior to its return working to Witney.

Representative of the transferred Volvo B10Bs from Oxford to Wycombe
are 626, 623 and 627 all fitted with new blinds for service in Wycombe.

Other Dart SLFs which visit Wycombe are those of Beeline from Slough and here 216
lays over by Newlands Bus Station bearing a rear end ad for a local Volvo dealer.

No I don't have a thing about rear ends but often they get ignored as is proved
by a lack of detail on models of buses by both Corgi and EFE !
This one of a Rapsons Volvo is included because I couldn't get a decent front view
and the service being operated is due to finish this weekend.
9637EL was filling in for the normal National Express liveried coach last Monday
evening and was operating the 738 which had just arrived from Inverness,
This service night stopped at Oxford before returning north at 0815 the next morning.
In the summer timetable passengers will have to change at Birmingham
since the through service is withdrawn.
