'34 Ford Pickup

This is Lindberg's '34 Ford Pickup #72157

This kit was bashed, only the chassis and body are from the actual kit. First I removed the bumper brackets, filled and smoothed the spare wheel well in the front guard, and the headlamp cross-bar mounts. A hole was also cut into the hood to accomodate the scoop. The superchared Mercury engine came from AMT's 1940 Ford Coupe, the bucket seats and front tires came from AMT's 1949 Ford Coupe, and the wheels are from AMT's 1956 Victoria. An additional cross-member was fitted to sit the engine at the right height and angle.

Now to put it all together. The rims and body were airbrushed using a custom mixed irridesant purple enamel, this was blend of purple and silver by Humbrol, tinted to the desired color. The interior was painted using a satin black artists acrylic, the steering wheel, gear lever, and additional guages came from my spare parts box. The tires were sanded to give a road-worn effect, the tire lettering was hand painted using Tamiya matt white acrylic, and the whole thing was finished of with a set of moon hubcaps from AMT's 1956 Victoria.
