This is a description of how to do Allen Iverson's best move,
the crossover.
First step:
While you are dribbling the ball with you left hand, quickly take a wide step to the left, leaning your body in that direction. Be sure to give a good head fake to really make it look like your taking off in that direction. Always observe how your man reacts to the fake, if he goes for it or not, if he doesn't do not try to get by him.
Second step:
Change direction. Once your man goes for your fake, totally change direction. Then, bring the ball across, over to your right hand. When you bounce the ball, make sure you bring it way over to the other side. Use your left foot to spark you acceleration. Don't leave your man any time to recover, speed up and blow right by him.
Third step:
Time to control the ball with your right hand. Shift your weight to the side you're now dribbling on. If he still doesn't go for the fake, stop.
Fourth step:
Now you got to speed up. If you have made a good move, you should be ready to make a easy lay up. The crossover is an effective way of breaking down the defense. But remember this - don't do the crossover too often. Then it'll loose its affectivity. Try to practice it in one-on-one games.
Good Luck! |
