A simple waterfall...many stop and bide their time there. Tis a local attraction, and well-known throughout the area. The masses come...they walk down the steep, rock-hewn steps to the bottom and look at Mother Earth's beauty. Power...energy...moving life. Some take pictures...their loved ones happily posed against the backdrop of the water's spray. Some join in laughter as they gingerly pick a path through the massive stones in the clear, rumbling pool at the bottom. The angelic, tinkling laughter of children echoes throughout the gorge as the wee ones play in the frigid waters, trying to catch the rainbows as they form in the mists of the thundering falls...
The masses look...but most never see...or hear...or understand...Within there is a soft whispering, a nudging...and they respond with, "What a wonderful place! I just love the mountains and the waterfalls!"
They are not ready...not yet...
The ancient Spirits are there. If you but open the eyes of your heart and spirit, they appear, welcoming you. Brother Eagle watches over all from high atop the swiftly cascading surge. His massive head keeping constant vigil, guarding that none but Light Energy enters the living waters as they seek their path to the bottom.
Brother Wolf reclines in peace at the bottom, his muzzle resting on his forepaws...The fire in his eyes glowing as his body mingles with the cool green foliage and the ancient stones.
Ancient warriors...some of the Five Hundred, smile down at those who know. Their faces are plain in the leaves and branches, in the scarred, time-worn face of the massive rock walls surrounding the falls. They fill the gorge with an unmistakeable energy, and I wonder how it is possible that few see their countenance. They pass their wisdom through the voices of the ancient stones, the trees, the wind...the water...
A simple waterfall? ...no. God, in His infinite wisdom, had put another angel in my path months before. She who would come to be my own spirit mirrored before me...My Kindred...my Anam Cara. This was not our first trip to stand in awe of the energy and wisdom of the ancients, nor would it be the last. This time, tho', something was very different...
When I first walked to the edge, I was filled with something I did not yet understand...the knowledge just outside my reach. Chin snuggled in my down-filled jacket, my Kindred at my side bundled against the cold and the icy spray, I looked out over the water. The warriors came to me, one by one...then wolf...then eagle, as they had from the beginning...their voices united in one chorus of care, protection, wisdom, guidance, and joy at my opening. They knew what I did not. Their focus was my spirit and that day they reached me. Breath was nowhere to be found...tears flowed. I sank to the rocks, deep, soul-wrenching sobs tearing from my soul...
This was the beginning of the end...the end of my healing. And twas the beginning of my true acceptance of all the spirits laid in my heart...
