August Festival Planned at Woodstock
by Paul Barrow
The New York Daily News reports that sometime over the weekend of August 14-15, Danny Socolof will present a major outdoor music festival on the site of the original 1969 festival in Bethel, N.Y. It will be called "A Day in the Garden."
The festival will feature Pete Townshend, Joni Mitchell, Don Henley, Stevie Nicks, Lou Reed, Ten Years After, Ziggy
Marley and the Melodymakers, and Richie Havens.
Local musicians will also perform and there are expected to be crafts, food, family activities, and workshops and
seminars on Woodstock.
The Daily News writer, David Hinckley, predicts rain. At both the 1969 festival and the 1994 reprise near the actual
town of Woodstock, rain turned the fields to mud. Perhaps somewhat in consequence, there will be no overnight
camping in the site. Daily admission has been set at $69.98. For ticket information, call 1-212-307-7171.
