One of the pictures passed down through Liedel generations
is one covering four generations, from Albert through his
granddaughter Rose to my father, who would have been about two at
the time. The the children of Henry Liedel are the ones I knew
as a child, who got together periodically in my grandmother's back

This branch of the Liedel family took a very different route
to the United States. John Liedel sailed to New Orleans,
travelled up the Mississippi to St. Louis, and finally settled in
Highland, IL, whee he married. For a time he worked in a store,
but was later a cattle dealer. It is believed that his wife was
also of Oestringen origin, and how they came to be married would
probably be an interesting story to know.
I should caution that the list of children below seems
impossibly long and is probably not in the correct order. What
dates there are were taken from newspaper clippings sent to me by
Donald Liedel.
