10 of Swords, Ruin.

Are you being the Martyr? How long do you have to make yourself suffer? Your thoughts are killing you. Trust me, coming from a Gemini, this is a difficult one to see our own self-doing in. It's sometimes difficult to see the humor in this card because of it's apparent doom and extremity. This is a time to let go, let it go.

the amazing power of the sun is too complete within itself to need the transference of gemini. wholeness in air obviously represents the intellect as content. crowley called the great work the 'solarization of the consciousness'. to alter or move that which is whole is to create duality within it. to attempt to add to something too much ruins it. this card encompasses all that which is truly 'over done'. passing the whole unity into excessive duality by not being able to know when to stop.

The swords represent chess pieces (as you all know Crowley liked that game of chess): the King, the Knights, the Rooks, the Bishops, a Pawn, and the Queen. They can be found on other cards as well. My ideas about their possible meaning haven't crystalized yet. Anybody some ideas?

This is the Sun in the Air sign Gemini, it is an extreme fear of ruin. This is too much energy (Sun) about two issues or areas of the querents life (Gemini) which leads to conflict and fear. This is the insane mind that is paralyzed beyond being paralyzed. It has killed the heart and all thats left is despair. All the swords of Clarity, Peace, Truce and Science have lost their beneficent power are being used harmfully.

This damaging process has been going on for a long time and has finally reached the lowest point it can go. A negative state of mind has reworked doubt so much that farther development is not possible. The mind begins to consciously realize that things cant get any worse. Rock bottom has been hit. At this point the mind copes with a dire sense of mania (or even insanity) and a resignment to this fate. However, how could anything ever really be that bad? And this begins re-evaluation and a questioning of the reality of the situation. Destructive psychological relationship. Mental breakdown brought on by a person or situation close to the heart. Heart-break. This can sometimes be a warning in question of health to guard against stress-related diseases which affect the heart or blood pressure. How did this all start? The swords tell the story:scales: the scales of Libra indicate that a balanced viewpoint was lost and developed into indecision2 "hourglass" swords: sense of time -long term/short term speculation was lost2 "cross and circle" swords: these encompass navigational points and geometrics -sense of things in relation to another and abstract thinking dis-intergrates2 swords with "four pointed spikes": represent Logos, the logical mind which can fight back with clarity. This has changed into the crazy lines of thinking/logic in the red background. sword with the ball?: perhaps represents how the "self" has been lost "moon/star" sword: relate to XVIII Moon and VII Star cards -how perception has become delusion and how hope has dwindled into a pipe-dream.

In readings this can sometimes indicate a loss of job or can show how one can only go up after reaching rock bottom. Maybe counselling would help. Can simply symbolize great fear. Where does this fear come from? How far does it go back? Perhaps is a state of mind adopted from a parent or a fear adopted from a person who was important a long time ago (10 months, years, 10 years old). The X Wheel of Fortune can be called upon to counter-balance this situation. Any change that will create effects and spin-off in the persons life will do. -Sometimes, on a more positive note, this card can show a great, chaotic energy that is crazy, but aligned with the heart and mind of the querent. A lack or release of control which is liberating.
