Queen of Swords.

The mask of outward appearances keeps us from perceiving the truth, that there is a spiritual basis for everything - all is made from the one substance, the water. By perceiving the world through the five senses, the conscious mind grasps only the mask or outward appearance and Truth is thus obscured.

The Queen of Swords rests physically upon the swirling, non-concrete clouds, not upon her five senses but upon her subconscious mind. The subconscious receives Truth via the channels in which the Superconscious, or All-Knowing, renders Truth - through the water (the clouds.) Call it intuition or psychic perception, but this means a little more, it means CHANNELING TRUTH.

The Queen's head is resting upon a great crystal, showing that her thoughts are crystallized, because her perceptions are not limited by the physical illusion of outward appearance. The crystal shows a clear square shape or cube, which has deep esoteric meaning. The center of the cube is the center of her head. She has centered herself correctly.

She has cut away the mask of illusion or outward appearance with the sword of Truth. Instead of seeing outside-in she sees inside-out.

This card indicates the manner of clearing confusion, and feeding the five senses with more input won't do the trick. Going within to your center, and linking up with The Center, will. And only the subconscious "sixth sense" can do that. How can you cut away the mask of illusion with your eyes focused on it?

Mental and intelligent is she who pulls the mask from her true self with such a skill to face reality. Aware and accepting . Knowledge of these masks we wear can be a powerful force directed good or bad. Badly driven is the manipulative actress who's mentally deranged in one mask and sweet as pie with that one. Calculating and assuming. Good would be torn past and recognized the masks which shouldn't be worn

This represents a powerful female figure, either a real person such as a psychic, who aids you in cutting away a past that is no longer useful; or, it can represent the female, or yin, aspect of self, working from inside to cut away an old aspect of self, or a past behavior pattern that ties you down to the past. This aspect of self is no longer needed or even desired, as it holds you back from connecting with your higher self.

She is the one who if you're having a spacey day, will bring you back up to speed with her sense of humor and quick mind. You have to be quick to keep up with her! She'd make a great lawyer or judge. However, she may have trouble finding her heart at times.

A difficult karma to work through. A heavy burden that cannot be shared or talked about. A strong woman who has no choice but to be strong. No one to lean on. Must accept what cannot be changed. Bitterness. A jagged little pill. A woman who has everthing and nothing. Suffering in silence. In a desperate act of courage, she has cut off the monster's head and been changed by this experience.

water of air. subjectivity of thought. all things are in one sense true, another sense false, and yet another sense meaningless. every indiviual is influenced from the layers of past experence coloring their perception of what one objective thing is a completely different way than anyone else.

This is a very pure card. The Queen of Swords represents the watery part of air. The main principle in which the coolness of the ether regions affects water is in its atomical structure, changing the very nature of water. In this card, a woman rests upon a multitude of clouds -they are a product of the chemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen, creating moisture. Emnamating from the crown of her head is a massive snow flake or ice crystal, which turns into rain the farther it leaves her cool domain. This crystal is indicative of the most solid form moisture can take, which is ice. The young child on top of the crystal flake represents the new characteristics which moisture has aquired by turning into this ice. By process and division it transforms into its most flexible form as water - represented by the rain, creating the rain droplet head to which the Queen grasps. She is the process between these two forms; water and ice.

There is a great emphasis on dynamics and ongoing process in this card. This Queen is a very good helper in getting things in motion -particularly in conscious areas of your life. This is someone who is good to have on your side. In one hand she holds the Ace of Swords in which she dissassociates and in the other a head in the form of a big rain droplet with which she is able to adapt and conform (into cloud). It is a part of herslef that’s in keeping with all that is cohesive. This mask is an aspect of herself which is ‘au contraire’ to her in-dividual self (interestingly, the head being male could represent her ‘animus’).

As a personality, this is a graceful woman with light or gray hair and pale eyes. She is acutely perceptive without using intuition, long sighted, and perserveringly accurate in superficial things. This woman might have the characteristics of Virgo people. Incidentally, she represents the Greek goddess Pallas Athena. Her mental mastery is suited to descision making and any work involving judicating or law -or any activities involving human rights (ie feminism). She also makes a good counsellor and can represent psychology/psychologists. Can be nagging, mother-in-law type.

The Queen can either help you or hinder you. She might represent someone who is an obstacle in a reading. It could be a restrictive situation (legal or career related) which is blocking your own direction. Can be obstacles in general or indicative that mental blocks need to be lifted (particularly if accompanied by the 5 Disks).

She wields the sword of insight. She sees clearly... with the eyes of a child: full of wonder and joy. She divides us from our past, requiring us to live in the present. She frees us from old roles and defense mechanisms. She makes us naked, re-born, free and whole... by division. Is she the heart of paradox? I think so.

Mask cutter. Removes masks.
Direct and critical.
Truthful and honest.
Uses tongue like a sword. Words that cut.
A woman who has boundries.
Capable of intimacy.
Alison (alisond@anv.net)

The air in this card is watery.
The woman sitting high on the clouds has a sword in one hand and a mans head in the other.
She can be sweet, gracious, and even generous. Watch for her other side. She can also be manipulative.
She can sever out of her life that which causes her grief and feel little remorse about doing so.
Once her life is back in balance, she can return the easy flow of every day life.
