Poet's Corner

One of my biggest loves is poetry. My favorite poet is possibly Robert Frost (I just LOVE his "Acquainted With The Night"), but more recently I have become more interested in female poets. I would suggest checking out Anne Bradstreet or Christina Rossetti (yes, Dante had a sister.) but, if you tend to like more modern poets, try Anne Sexton or Sylvia Plath.

One of my poems was published in an anthology. Two, actually. The first is Golden Treasures: A Fortune in Lyric Poetry and the second is Dark Side of the Moon. Soon I will put that poem here but, alas, as I write this I don't have it with me.

My great love of the series Beauty and the Beast is grounded in my love of poetry. Imagine a whole community living underground, whose most beastly resident got his sheerest joy from reading books, such as the classics, and from reading poetry. The producers of the show put out an album of music and poetry from the show, with the poetry read by Vincent in that deep voice of his. That album is where I got my love of Frost's 'Acquainted With the Night', along with many other poems that stand out in my heart. And whether it was Shakespeare's sonnets or Elizabeth Barret Browning's Sonnets of the Portuguese, I was in love. To have the soul of a poet is a tremendous virtue, though the term may be cliche. The poet's language is beautiful, and one of the most expressive I know.

I will eventually add in links to pages of various poets that I've collected, but lack of time prevents this at the moment.
