The Park
     I love to chat so much that *POOF* will probably be my dying 
         word and The Park is where I chat and yes, it is no accident that this page has the same background & colors of my favorite chat site. .....:) & all of these graphics came from The Park's Icon Vault. You can find me in the
Romantic Chat Room - Males with Females. I've been a regular of that room since
February 1996, which means I spend way too much time there. ..... woo hoo.....here are the icons that I use ....makes it easier for you to spot me!


 

Some chatters makes lists of their CT friends on their hps.....but I know so many people that if I tried to make a list it would probably use all my disk space here at Geocities...*l*......and I'd probably leave out one or two by accident which would offend them until the end of time..*rolling eyes*...... So, if you want to
learn more about my friends in the Romance room, look at the links to other hps that I have.......... (there's a link to them at the bottom of this page).....Most of those people are Romance Room regs......or if you want to get to know us, you could just talk to us!!!!

Wildrose has a message board especially for us Rom room peeps. Leave a message for someone, or add some kind words......


I used to chat all over the net.......sometimes I would use 2 or even 3 browsers to chat in different sites at the same time......In those days, I had a serious chat addiction......*lol*.....but the Park was always home and the Romance Room was and still is the place where everyone knows my name....These days I rarely chat outside the Park and I only chat in other rooms where old friends are........yes, the addiction is under control ......:) ....... I hope.
Chat is what you make of it & the net has sites & rooms for everyone. To
find other chat sites, use "chat rooms" in any search engine, or try
Solcape's very long list......

and be patient!.....getting to know a chatroom takes a few days.
Don't pop in & poof out in an instant if you don't get an immediate response........ don't assume that all chatrooms are the same or that the people in them are stupid & do not have lives off the net.........Some chatters are very cliquish & don't accept new people easily, but I think this attitude is unhealthy for a room......if no new people become regs, what happens as the established regs leave?.......the room dies..........So, if chatting is something you would like to try, give it time.........after a few visits you should know whether a particular room or site is a place where you want to spend time...........If you don't like one room, there are many more waiting for you........

Message Boards

Before live chat, people communicated via message boards on the net, oh so long ago......they are still around.....cnn.com will put up one every time there is some sort of crisis.....but most boards are not that active. I've rediscovered message boards.....as chat has gotten faster & less controversial, the boards offer more indepth discussions of what ever topic interests you.........I've gotten adicted to them and really enjoy being able to talk about things at length with people......the atmosphere is different than in chat.....you aren't expected to come up with a quick one-liner type response in a few seconds........infact, sometimes waiting & thinking are the best course of action when in a debate.........and the place with the boards that I like is the Park......(they should pay me for all this PR....*l*)


 

I moderate the Philosophy board, which is under the Arts & Humanities category.......mostly watch for spam......it's not the most glamorous title.......so, if you want to talk about all sorts of interesting topics and mybe don't care for chat or want to give a different format a try, join us!!!!....we'd love to have anyone participate on any of the boards.



 

  Necessary Chat Things 

For those of us who spend alot of time on the net, email is very important.
When nothing else is working, email will allow you to communicate with
your net friends and many chat sites won't allow anyone who isn't
registered past their front doors (you need an email address to get registered). If you don't have an account thru your
ISP you can get free email on the web. The best known & most used free
email place is HoTMaiL. Yahoo is becoming Hotmail's biggest competitor. I like many of their features, especially the ability to block addresses. Both do a good job of keeping SPAM out of your mail box. Geocities
offers free email accounts to it's members. This type of email is called
"web based" because it stays on the net instead of going to your ISP and they are not the poor man's email addresses. Many
people who don't want personal email on their terminals at work use these
web based accounts. Anyone who spends alot of time one the net should have atleast one web based email account......I have 5.....*l*.......I spend too much time on the net.
To access any mailbox from any web browser go to
MailStart.
With an email account, not only can you communicate with your friends,
but you can also send cyber postcards & gifts.......whoo hoo!!!!...... Electronic Postcards from
Around the World has links to many card sites & they are organized by
occasion. Blue Mountain Arts is my favorite place to send cyber greetings.
Their cards are animated, have sound & are very easy to make. Card sites are all over the net. Here are some that I have visited & liked:

Emoticons are a quick way to communicate emotion using symbols from any keyboard. Some chatters
use them alot, others not at all. ..;)

successful, free live chat, unique to the web, will become a thing of the past. Stay informed
