A Proposal?

I have faith that we will last
we will never willingly be apart
each other's present future and past
always in each other's heart

This may not  be a realistic way
to deal with the way I feel
Probably not the words I should say
if your heart I wish to steal

The only  promise I can make
is  that I will never lie to you
Illness, death or change may take
you from me or me from you

I wish I could promise forever
or at least the rest of your life
Just please don't say never
but rather join me as my wife
