  1. Can you tell me Paco de Lucía's concert tour schedule?

Believe it or not, this is the most commonly asked question. Although I have met and partied with his sextet, I still do not know Paco personally.

Anyway, you can find his concert itinerary (excluding Spain and South America) at the International Music Network.

If you're looking for other artist tour itineraries, try websites like tickets.com and tourdates.com or go to google.com and type in the name of the artist followed by the word 'tour.' Also try going to washingtonpost.com website and do a site search for 'flamenco.'

  2. Can you recommend a good flamenco dance/guitar teacher?

Before I can begin to answer your question, I need to know a few things about you such as: Are you doing this just for fun or do you have aspirations of becoming a performer, or both? Is location important to you; if so, where do you live/work? Have you had any previous dance/guitar training--flamenco or otherwise? The more information you give me about your goals and preferences, the better the recommendation I can give you.

Each teacher has his/her own strengths and specialties. I can try my best to find a good match for you, but ultimately you'll have to meet the teacher and decide for yourself if he/she is the right one for you.

When you've answered the above questions, email me.

  3. I would like more info about your group.

I'm flattered that you ask, but I technically don't have a group. I'm an independent freelance flamenco guitarist who can call upon various dancers and other musicians to customize a group depending on what you are interested in having.

I have experience in putting together shows and lecture-demonstrations for schools (K-12 and college), Hispanic Heritage month (September-October), corporate conventions, private parties in restaurants and residences, full-length concerts, international folk festivals.

Just tell me what you you want and I'll help you put together a show.

  4. Where can I find instructional books and videos for flamenco dance/guitar?

There are a number of good places if you look on the web. I recommend that you visit the Flamenco Connection. Ask for catalog.

  5. Can you recommend a good salsa club?

This website is about flamenco. Flamenco and salsa are not the same. But it just so happens I know of a good place to find the information you need. Visit DCDANCENET.COM and checkout their Salsa Calendar

  6. Do you know of any flamenco in (insert city/state name)?

I've attempted to list some flamenco contacts around the world on my links page. Contact any one of those people for more information.

  7. Do you offer flamenco guitar lessons?

No. I feel that if you are going to study flamenco (or anything else for that matter), you should study with the best teachers you can find. There are a number of better and more experienced flamenco guitar teachers in the DC area that I heartily recommend. See my teachers page.

However, if you're already an accomplished guitarist with the basics of flamenco guitar technique under your belt, I invite you to come play for some of the local dance classes (with the dance teacher's permission of course). I'll be glad to offer tips in dance accompaniment free of charge. Well...almost free of charge: The deal is that if there comes a time when I need a substitute dance accompanist for a show, I hope to be able to call you to fill-in for me.

  8. Where can I find flamenco guitar tablature?

Go to flamenco-teacher.com where you'll find tablature complete with audio samples. For complete transcriptions (which you have to pay for), visit Alain Faucher's website.

  9. Where can I buy flamenco shoes, skirts, castanets and other dance accessories?

There are a number of individuals in the DC area such as Paco de Málaga (202)244-4200 and Torcuato Zamora (301)587-2266 who usually have these supplies in stock. Also try visiting my shopping pages

  10. I'll be in the DC area on a certain date, can you tell me if there are any flamenco events during that time?

Considering that I update my website almost everyday, you probably won't find a more current flamenco calendar for the DC area anywhere else.

On my calendar, I list current and upcoming events to the best of my knowledge. Check it daily, especially the day before you leave. Check it the day you arrive! Check it a few minutes before you leave the hotel. I add new events to my calendar usually within minutes of hearing about them!

If there is an event I missed, please tell me about it.
