Miguelito who?

My name is Michael Pérez, but a lot of my Spanish-speaking friends just call me Miguelito (pronounced mee-geh-LEE-toe). I'm a flamenco guitarist who performs in the DC area and also maintains the DCFLAMENCO.COM website.

I presume that you live in the Washington DC area and have an interest in learning more about flamenco.

So....checking up on me are you?

That's cool. I was hoping you'd come visit my homepage, especially if you're looking for some info on flamenco shows and classes. Well, if you live in the Washington DC area, then congratulations! You've found the only web site in the whole world devoted to flamenco in DC!

You're probably thinking that there couldn't possibly be a flamenco scene HERE...

Well, "scene" might not be the exact word, but believe it or not there is a fair amount of flamenco happening in Washington, DC if you know WHERE to look. This web site is where you'll find ALL the DC flamenco events info from an excellent source...ME!

Now I suppose you want to know how I qualify as an, no THE best source of flamenco events info for this area...

Well, although I don't make all of my living as a flamenco guitarist, I perform regulary with certain dancers and on and off with others who are members of the local flamenco dance companies:
  • Los Jovenes Flamencos
  • Viva Flamenco
  • Arte Flamenco
  • Danza del Río
  • Ana Martinez Spanish Dance Company
  • Sol y Sombra
  • Triana
  • Mal de Fleur
  • Jaleo
  • Orgullo Flamenco
  • Estampo Flamenco
  • Blanca Luz
  • Ziva's Spanish Dance Ensemble
  • Spanish Dance Theatre
  • Spanish Dance Society
Whew!!! Obviously, if there is a flamenco-related event going on in the Nation's capital (USA), I'm either part of it or I know the people organizing it.

I also happen to know just about every flamenco dance teacher in the DC area:

  • Edwin Aparicio
  • Micaela Moreno
  • Sara Candela
  • Lola Zalamea
  • Ana Martinez (Ana Martinez Spanish Dance Company)
  • Ena Camargo (Viva Flamenco)
  • Natalia Monteleón (Arte Flamenco)
  • Joana del Río (Danza del Río)
  • Susana del Sol (Danza del Río)
  • Susana Lorenzo
  • Ziva (Spanish Dance Ensemble)
  • Jaime Coronado (Spanish Dance Theatre)
  • Nancy Sedgwick (Spanish Dance Theatre)

I'm doing this all for you...so if there is any way that you think I can improve this website, tell me about it.
It can be a minor correction or perhaps a submission of concert info I neglected or whatever. Send me an email and let me know! Again, my email address is miguelito@dcflamenco.com

Most of the time, flamenco event info here in DC is spread by word of mouth SO here is...

MY MISSION STATEMENT [everyone's got one these days]
