First, grab yourself a cup of coffee, or tea, or whatever you would like to drink, take a seat on my most comfortable sofa...and let me talk to you for a little while, there is something I want to tell you.
I started this page in april, 1997 to give strength to a friend
who was dying. I wanted so hard to be beside him his last days...
give him courage to have faith and hope...who knows...miracles happen. I didn't want to see him losing his strength and giving up.
In this virtual world, I made many, many friends. I had little opportunity to know them in person, but I always keep in touch with them through my pages and through my letters.
In this world I'm able to know each and everyone better because people open up very easily, sharing lots of things that is difficult to be shared in real life.
That's how several of them told me they have terminal illnesses, and others have other kinds of illnesses, like being disabled... a broken heart or loneliness.
This friend of mine in particular, Nick Fontana, came with bad news in a very bad time for me, because I had recently lost my father who died of cancer, and he shocked me. I asked God why,
why people had to die, why everybody around me was leaving me. And I became frustrated, sad and without strength.
But I didn't want to give up, so I said to myself that I had to do something, something to give to all those friends that were still living, that were fighting with these awful diseases, and also for those friends who were just letting life pass by, without thinking that maybe today was the last day of their lives.
Sometimes, because we are still young or healthy, we don't realize that our life is in God's hands, and it can be taken away
anytime.
So, for those who are ill, for those who don't have hope and faith in a better world, for those who are alone, for those who are fighting everyday to have a better life but think that they won't be able to make it, for those who are wishing to die to
finish soon with their miseries, for my friend Nick Fontana who's still alive and healthy now, something that I thank God for everyday, for my father who gave me so many things in life and will always be in my heart, God rest his soul, for those who need words of encouragement to get up every morning, and for all who will drop by my pages and want or need to read this particular page.
Let's think for a little while, what if we die right now? What did we do in our life? Did we tell our parents, friends, spouses, brothers, sisters, sons or daughters how much we love them everyday? Did we stop for one moment to look at those who are living in the streets, hungry, cold and with nobody to love them, just to give them a smile or a spare coin to eat something? Have we made enough to make this one a better world? Did we spread love all around us? Did we forgive all those who hurt us? was our life worthly to be lived?
Don't waste more time, every second is precious. When it's gone, it's gone forever.
So start now, this instant...give love, spread smiles, say "I love you" even if you think they already know that, it's never enough to show how deep and big our love is for those around us,
think in those with less fortune than us who will be sleeping in the street tonight and appreciate more than ever what you have now, even if you don't have too much. There always be somebody with less than you.
Go on...read this page later if you can say somebody how much you love them...
If not, give me some gifts, the best gifts I want to receive: your smile, your promise to make this one a better world, your deeper strength to make for yourself a better life even though everything seems too bad around you, promise me that your heart will be full of love always no matter how many times people hurts you.
Did you know that you're unique? Yes...nobody has your nose, or your eyes, or your hands...
You are better than the most precious jewel, than the biggest treasure in the world, than all the things money can buy.
You will never find somebody like you, even if you look alike, because you are you, and that's something that nobody can be.
You have so many things inside you that are so valuable! so many things to share, to give...
Don't waste more time...hear my words...somebody out there needs you badly...you are not alone...you are with you, the most unique in the world...come on...get up...find your inner self-happiness...only you can give you what you want or need...and after that, show the world how valuable you are, giving them the best you can give. And when you give, you don't need to ask...you will receive back. But first, you have to love yourself in order to make others like or love you.
It's like selling something...if the salesman is not convinced that his product is the best in the market, he won't be able to sell it. Think, how many times have you bought something that you don't need or it's not really useful just because the salesman told you how great it was? That was because the salesman was convinced about his product and he convinced you. So, go on...sell yourself to the world...show everybody how loving and caring a person you are.
And if someone doesn't like you, forget it, you have given the best, you are in peace. Go and find somebody else who will appreciate you the way you are.
Don't you ever think that because you are not handsome or beautiful, or because you are black or white, or jewish or catholic, or spanish or english, nobody will like you. No, that's a mistake. People will like you because of you, because of what you are inside, and if somebody uses one of these things to make you feel bad or less than the rest of the world, feel sorry for that person. That particular person doesn't know the meanning of love or brotherhood. That person didn't learn that we are all equals because we all came to this world the same way: naked, pennyless and because of the love that two people shared.
Don't change to please everyone...just be yourself, with your mistakes and acerts... somebody is waiting for you around the corner of your life.
Go on and be happy.
Thanks for taking your time to read this. Help me in my difficult crusade, spread my words, let's make together a better world.
With all my love, all this is for you.
Jerry was that kind of person who was always in a good mood, and had always
positive thoughts to share.
When somebody asked him how was he doing, he will answer: "If I could be better I would have to had a twin!".
He was a unique manager, because he was followed for his employees from restaurant to restaurant, and the reason for this was because of his attitude. He always encouraged his employees to see the bright side of things.
I became so curious about his attitude, that one day I asked him:
"I can't understand! How somebody can be so positive all the time...How do you do it?", and Jerry answered: "Everyday, when I wake up, I say to myself: "Jerry, you have two options today: you can choose to be in a bad mood or you can choose to be in a good mood. I choose to be in a good mood. When something wrong happens, I can choose to be a victim or to learn from it. I choose to learn. Everytime that somebody comes to me with a complaint, I can accept the complaint or show them the bright side of things".
"Okay, but that's not easy, I argued."
"Yes, it is", said Jerry. Everything in life is a matter of choice. You choose how to react to different situations. You choose how people will affect your mood. You choose to be in a good or bad mood. Making it short: "You choose how to live your life".
I left thinking about his words. The time passed by and I lost contact with Jerry because I opened my own store. Often I thought of him when I had to make a decision in my life. Several years after, I learned that Jerry made a big mistake: he left the back door opened and three men attacked him. When he was trying to open the safe, his trembling hands dropped, the thieves got scared and shot him. With great luck, he was found and taken to the hospital. After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, he left the hospital with the rest of the bullets inside his body.
I found him one day, after six months of this incident, and asked him how he was. Jerry told me: "If I could be better I would have to have had a twin! Do you want to see my scars?" I told him I didn't want to, but I did asked him what went through his mind
when all this happened, and Jerry said: "My first thought was that I should have closed the back door, then, when I was lying on the floor I remembered that I had two options: I could choose to live or I could choose to die. So, I chose to live."
"Were you afraid? Did you lose your consciousness?" I asked him, and Jerry told me: "The paramedics where wonderful, they told me that I was going to be alright over and over, but
when I got to the hospital and I saw the doctor's and nurse's faces, I got pretty scared. In their eyes I could read: "This man is dead". So I knew I had to do something about it."
"What did you do?" I asked Jerry.
There was a nurse asking me questions, and she asked me if I had any allergies, YES, I said to her, so everybody stopped until I answered, BULLETS I said, and meanwhile everybody was laughing,
I said: "I'm choosing to live, make the operation as if I'm alive not dead."
Jerry lived because of his doctors knowledge but also because of his attitude.
I learned through him that everyday we could choose to live as best as possible and in full. At last, the attitude is everything.
I WISH I COULD BE THE WIND
Don't ask me to tell you where I'm from.
Don't bury me in this wound.
Don't bury me in the losts yesterdays.
Don't stop me any further.
Even now in my heart
sleeps my dream
that like a storm
is still raging but,
I turn my back
and within a blink
like a tear drop
it breaks into pieces.
From that day onward
I made a choice
to fight day by day
I wish I could be the wind.
Don't blame me even if I'm not kind
Don't cry for me this heart of mine.
Gracefully blooming,
a free-loving flower
whose day of a kiss
is still far away.
Everyone has a dream
in a world they see
and using this body
I promise to protect...
From that day onward
It's a long and distant
road as a fighter
I wish I was the wind.
Viewing freedom as intrinsic
to our being, we discover that
our lives are what we make them.
All options are open
Our choices unlimited
When we have the knowledge,
spaces grant us unbounded
opportunity and time presents
us with infinite possibilities
for change.
Life and dead are nothing,
but steps to change.
GOD BE WITH YOU.
