Welcome to the first site
for one of the greatest bands
I have ever heard.
They are all "down-home",
talented and nice guys.
I don't have much
to put here yet, but
hope the site
will grow as time goes on.
I had the pleasure of
meeting them at
"Redbelly Day" this year.
They all
seem so sincere and really cares
what the public feels about them.
They really love their work and
have fun working
in front of people.
They put on a great
show and seem to
have so much fun cutting up
and including the audience
in their performance.
They are hoping to have
their own site
in the near future
as well as a new cd
coming out soon.
But until then, I guess
they will just have to let my little
world tell everyone about them.
I hope
they will like the tribute
I have made here for them.
I guess I am their oldest
(if not biggest) fan around.
Hahahahaha
I even teased them about
adopting them. Hahaha
I also met Pauls wife and she is
one of the sweetest people I know.
She is not like you would expect
a singers wife to be. She is as
"down to earth" as the rest of them.
Without her help, I could not have
made this site. She has been
so helpful with information
and photos. She is
not only a wonderful person,
but I hope she considers herself
a dear friend. Thanks so much Lisa.
And a special thanks to my friend "Ron"
for if not for him inviting
me to the festival, I would
never have met these wonderful people.
Thanks Ron.
It is with a deeply saddend heart
that I add this to the site, but I know
all who loved them would want to know.
We have lost one of the band members.
I know our prayers go out to all of his
family, friends and band members.
Now his music will be heard in Heaven.
God rest with you Sam, you are loved and missed.

Accident Claims Life of Elvin Tyrone "Sam" Mathews
For those who knew Elvin Tyrone "Sam" Mathews,
they agree to the man that he was a man who
loved life and his family. A tragic accident
claimed his life Sunday, July 4. Mathews, 36 of Bell,
was northbound in a 1998 Ford pick-up on US 129
in Gilchrist County when the truck drifted to the
left and traveled across the southbound lane.
Mathews continued onto the southbound shoulder
and into a ditch running alongside of the road.
At that point the vehicle entered a wooded area
where it struck a tree head-on. The impact was
enough to partially uproot the tree and at that
point the pick- up rolled onto its right side striking
another large tree. This second collision lifted the
pick-up off of the ground before it slid down the tree
ending up on its right side. Mathews was pronounced
dead at the scene and preliminary reports from informed
sources indicate that Mathews might have had some sort
of seizure at the time of the accident. Mathews was a
friend to all and a talented musician, who played the
guitar and sang with Crosstyz, a local country
music band. Over the years, Crosstyz has performed
at numerous events throughout the area including
appearances at Red Belly Day. Mathews was a
correction's officer at Cross City Correctional
Institute in Cross City for the past 15 years.
"Sam was one of those rare people, who truly
enjoyed working," Warden David Farcas said.
"He simply enjoyed being on earth and with his family.
On the job, there was nothing that he wouldn't do
from the smallest to the largest task.
We will all miss him."
Crosstyz Update:
I have spoken with Lisa, Paul's wife and she
has informed me of some of the bands plans.
"We had Sam's funeral yesterday. It was a beautiful service.
He was a most special person. We don't know yet what
the future holds for Crosstyz......Sam was a
founding member and that band was built on solid
friendships and mutual adortaion for each other
and music.... Crosstyz as we have all been blessed
to know it is over - wheather any of the members
continue to play music in other capacities remains
to be seen. I can tell you that Paul and I have
discussed Robert and Paul going into the studio
to accoustically record some of the songs that Sam wrote.
The idea is that Robert and Paul will perform some
accoustic jam sessions and sell the recordings to
establish a trust fund for the two young children
Sam left behind. We collectively agree that Sam arranged
his life in such a way that he could keep music in it -
so to stop playing at his loss would be devastating to Sam.
This idea allows his music to be heard, his children
to be cared for and provides an outlet for the remaining
members of Crosstyz as well as serving as a bridge
into the next phase of their musical lives."
I know everyone wishes them all the very
best this world has to offer and all the luck
in whatever they choose to do with their lives.
No matter where they go-what they do-they will
always forever be 'Crosstyz' in our hearts and will be
loved and cherished forever.
Pantheras The Cat
In Loveing Memory of Sam
Where I met them in 1999.
Here is a photo with
a bio about the guys.
Here they are on their first cd cover.
Here is their newest photo.
I think they all look fabulous
and the newest member, Tommy,
has been a wonderful
addition to the band.
He has also won contests
and awards on his own before
joining the group. Florida
is quite proud of him.
Now for something a little different.
I have been playing around in PSP
and was trying some new things.
Here are a couple of photos
I came up with. I put Paul
and Robert by the
Little Tennessee River.
I don't think they came out
too bad..........for
someone that don't know
what they're doing. Hahahaha
Well, that's about all I have for now.
Check back every now and then
for I will add more as I get it.
