Yesterday....Paul met John Lennon in the late 1950s. Even though Paul is a full 18 month differance in their ages, there was an instant friendship between the two. They respected each other as both musicians and as artist. Paul was good friends with George Harrison--who was 8 months his junior--and encourgaged him to join John's band, the Quarry Men. John was impressed by George's ablities, but would not let him in because of his age. Paul and George pressed John until he finaly let him in the band.
Paul and John formed a very strong songwriting team. They wrote several songs in the late 50s. Among them were "I'll Follow the Sun" and "Love Me Do." This partnership would later prove useful in the 60s.
Paul, of course, was the most popular Beatle. He was polite, and was--and still is--good looking. He sent girls screaming, and he rather enjoyed it. Paul married Linda in 1967. His adoring fans were crushed. His marriage to Linda would last 30 years before her tragic death in 1998.
Today....Paul is getting ready to release a new album, Oobu Juboo, the follow up to Flaming Pie. He should be going on tour again very soon. And, if you haven't read it, he had a biography released in 1997. It's a lovely book called Paul McCartney: Many Years From Now.
