This
is a simple method to create a nice glowing effect around your text. It's
used all the way through my homepage. Click here
to visit it now. In this tutorial, you will be using:
- the blur more function, - the text tool and - the dilate function. Below is an example of the final image. |

Step
1:
Create a new file with black as your background set to 16 million colours. For the foreground colour, select light purple: - Red: 128 - Green: 128 - Blue: 255 Now enter some text. I used the ribbon font at size 36 set to bold italics. Unselect the text by clicking "selections - select none". |

Step
2:
Open the "image" menu and from the "other" option, select "dilate" and do this 3 times. This will expand the text. |

3:
Go back to the "image" menu and this time pick the "blur more" function from the "blur" option. Do this three times. This will create the glowing effect around the text. |

4:
Now select dark purple as your foreground colour: - Red: 0 - Green: 0 - Blue: 64 Enter the same text again and move it so it superimposes the blurred text. This is the final image. |

You can also mix and match colours. However, this effect looks best with a lighter colour on the outside and a much darker colour on the inside. |
