In
this tutorial, you will learn how to achieve edges which are covered with
a veil of mist. The following functions will be used:
- copy, - paste and - convert to seamless pattern. |
Step
1:
Open your desired image and increase the colour depth to 16 million colours if your image is not already at this colour depth i.e. "colours - increase colour depth - 16 million colours". Using the selection tool, select the part of the image you want and copy it. |

Step
2:
Create a new image with dimensions twice the size of your selection. The colour of the mist will be the background colour so select the colour you want now. In this tutorial, I have chosen white as my background colour. Paste the image as a new selection in the centre of this new image and keep it selected. |

3:
Now click "selections - convert to seamless pattern". This will create a new image for you with the mist surrounding the image. |

This technique can also be made to make backgrounds as a seamless tiled pattern will be created for you using this function. |
