Neon Text
In this tutorial, you will learn how to create text like a glowing neon sign. Below is an example of the neon text effect. You will be using:
- the text tool,
- the blur more function,
- the solarize function and
- the red/green/blue colour adjustment.
Step 1:
Create a new file with black as your background set to 16 million colours. With white as your foreground colour, enter some text. Unselect the text by clicking "selections - select none".
Step 2:
Go the the "image" menu and select "blur more" once from the "blur" option. Your text should look like this.
Step 3:
Now open the "colours" menu and select "solarize". Set the "threshold" to 128 and click OK.
Step 4:
Now all you have to do is add some colour. Go back to the "colours" menu and select "Red/Green/Blue" from the "adjust" option. You can play around with the settings to achieve the colour you want. For this example, I used:
- Red: 100%
- Green: 0%
- Blue: 100%
for a light purple colour. This is the final image.
