This is where you can see photos of me and my worldly friends in TOKYO.
...and here's an indie kid's guide to Tokyo (short version) which is where i lived between June 1999 and March 2000.
If you ever find yourself in Tokyo, lost in the neon loneliness, don't despair because there are places you can go.
For those of you who want to wow the crowds with your dancefloor style, try Club Pop It! on the last Saturday night of every month, or bar Drop in Kichijoji which often has indie nights.
If you've ever secretly yearned to sing karaoke (they have Bis!) but are afraid to in case you wet yr pants from fear and humiliation, a karaoke box is a must. Just grab a few friends, find the correct ten-storey high flashing light (they're on every shopping street) and soon you'll be in your own, private booth equipped with TV, microphone and long, bouncy couches.
1. Take loads of photos to shame your weary, hoarse friends the next morning. For example, "and look, here's one of you headbanging and screaming to 'Girls Girls Girls" by Motley Crue!"
2. Drink lots of Peachy Sour. Beer just makes one belch while attempting to sing.
3. Jump and dance all over the couches. I swear, that's what they're there for.
4. Practice your Japanese on your patient waiter. Once I repeated "Three Room 21's, please" about four times before I caught on to my mistake.
Try Harajuku for glitter clips and t-shirts, Zest in Shibuya for all your record and CD needs, or, if you find yourself in Osaka, Syft Records which is said to have many a rare Spearmint 7".
