My dad, Larry Urbanc, was in the 371st ECBn, Company A. We used your website as a way to get familiar with the history before attending the reunion just recently held in Peoria. Just wanted to say our whole family enjoyed the bus tour of Camp Ellis and ickson Mounds as well as the banquet. We have already made several copies of the video tape of those 2 days and enjoyed watching it. We were glad we were able to join you and meet the veterans and their families. Delbert Yocum did an excellent job in o ganizing the event. Thanks to all of the veterans for their hard work and sacrifices made so that we can live in freedom, and thanks to you for making this website available. It should be really helpful in reuniting people from the events of many years go.

My name is John B. Miller. I was a member of the H&S Co. from its early days until after D day in England (the docks at Southampton) where I transferred out. Does anyone know the whereabouts of Elmer E. Johnston of Amarillo Texas? Great web site! Thanks, John

Dad's name was Chester (Charlie, Whitie etc.) Zablocki. I found all the letters Dad wrote to Honey. Nov.41 to Sept. 45...I have a story.

Wesel has had an American sister city since 1952 and that City is Hagerstown, MD. (This was the first German-American Sister City relationship.) From 1985-1997 I was the Mayor of Hagerstown. I am interested in any first hand stories of what Wesel was lik at the end of the war during the time of rebuilding the bridge. I have visited Wesel on many occasions (I was even married there), have many friends there and would like to access information from the 371st. I would like to add the information to the a chives at Hagerstown's City Hall and hopefully share the information with the folks in Wesel. By the way I once met a retired Roral Scottish Pilot who had helped to bomb Wesel "flat". We were sking in Zermat, Switzerland inm 1981. Thank you. Steven T. Sager, Mayor 1985-1997

Interesting site you have. I am researching to find the identity of an intact church pictured in a photo taken by a member of the 275th Armored Field Artillery Bn in 1945. I will be back in touch later. The photo that I have shows portions of two destroye bridges and a twin steepled church with a third spire to the left rear of the two main spires. The 275th was among the large number of artillery battalions that fired across the Rhine to prepare for the crossing. They crossed on pontoon bridges and DUKW' . Can you tell us anything about the pontoon bridges?

Hello, We are Elske (15 years old) and Evelien (16 years old) and we are two girls from Dordrecht, the Netherlands. We are doing a research for a schoolassignment about the Liberation in 1945. We have to research the World War II and liberation experiences of civilians and soldiers during the period 1944-1945. We have to interview veterans and survivors. The aim of the project is to assemble an oral history of American and other Allied participation in the liberation of the Netherlands during World War II, as well as the courage and endurance of the Dutch people. If you are a World War II veteran or survivor or if you know a World War II veteran or survivor or if you have got any information that might be useful for the assignment, please let us know by sending us a letter or an e-mail. Also, if you are the editor of a newsletter or if you know a newsletter and if you think we could publish a little ad about our assignment, please let us know as well. Thank you so much. Found this site today with difficulty 4/18/99 but glad thatI did find it. I was a member of this great outfit in Co.C--Proud to have been a part of the many difficult duties given to us. I was in the first group that formed for the Battalion and was with o C thruout the war..We were called the "Mitey Mites"---Because we were all the shortest in Height..having been assembeled in a long line the first day of the unit forming by a Col.who went up and down our line placeing us in the correct order of height.. hen he decided we were correctly placed in decinding height, he then counted off a division of three companys.."A" Co. consisted of the taller guys,"B" Co.the middle size and "C" Co the smaller guys...I placed about six or seventh from the end... We ha e been to a couple reunions and hope to attend again.. Would like to hear from my buddies from Co "C"when you get a chance to swap some more stories

This Web Page is dedicated to the US Army Veterans of the 371st ECBn of WWII. In particular we dedicate it in memory of our father Tech4 Thomas W. Peacock - Co A. of the 371st, and to his closest GI Buddies whom we heard about so often in his war stories. We have recently been in contact with former 371st Co A. veterans ie.. Sgt's Pierce, Yocum,& Cassidy and have offered to maintain this Web Page. This Web Page is meant for the entire 371st Battalion Veterans. and it's mission is to: Let these veterans tell and publish their unit's unabridge history as they saw it happen, giving full credit. Publish the batallion rosters, old and recent photos, and annual reunion information. Lastly to try to find a new way to seek out the lost veterans who would like o link up with their former comrads-in-arms. JAP
