E. ROBINSON Contract Rifle Muskets

Edward Robinson of New York City, N.Y., contracted with the War Dept. to manufacture regulation rifle muskets.
His first deliveries were late 1863 and his
last were in 1865. All rifle muskets delivered were of the model 1861 type. However two lockplate markings are found. Those manufactured in 1863 were
marked on the lockplates in front of the hammer, US under an eagle and to the right E. ROBINSON/ NEW YORK in two lines
and were dated behind the hammer, 1863. Those arms manufactued in 1864 and 1865 have the arching type marked lockplates.
