P.S. Justice Rifle Muskets

 Philip S. Justice, of Philadelphia, Pa., contracted with the War Dept. to deliver .69 cal. rifle muskets in 1861. 
All muskets delivered were a composition of newly manufactured and surplus gov't type and were non-standard.  All arms were .69 cal.
bolstered breech, rifled barrel 39-1/2 inches long.  Total length 55-1/4 inches.  The furniture is brass with a distinctive handguard,oval bands
, brass patchbox with a brass blade front sight.  The lockplate is marked US in a shield borne by an eagle and P.S. JUSTICE
Philada, which also appear on the barrel. Justice also supplied a rifle in .58 caliber.
