Moore Enfield Pattern Rifle Muskets
.
J.P.Moore also of New York City, N.Y. contracted with the War Dept to Manufacture "Enfield-pattern" rifle muskets as did Blunt. Moore's appear to be assembled from parts manufactured in Europe and the U.S. perhaps even by Blunt. All rifle muskets delivered were of the model 1853 Enfield type. Lockplates were usually marked with the date infront of the hammer below the bolster, and an eagle surmounting a shield encompassing the leter M on rounded tail. Dates of 1861 1862 and 1863 have been noted. These are very rare rifle muskets.
