PARKER, SNOW & Co Contract Rifle Muskets

Parker, Snow & Co. of Meridan, Conn., contracted with the War Dept. to manufacture regulation model 1861 rifle muskets in 1862. All muskets delivered were of the model 1861 type, the entire quantity delivered by Nov, 1864 . Lockplates were usually marked with an eagle over US in front of the hammer and to the right of these PARKERS' SNOW & CO over MERIDAN. CONN. in two lines. The date was marked behind the hammer. The firm continued in the arms making business for many years and became known as Parker Bros who in 1868 began producing the internationally renowned Parker Shotguns.
