C.B. Hoard Contract Rifle Muskets

Charles B. Hoard of Watertown NY., contracted with the War Dept. to manufacture regulation Model 1861
rifle muskets. All rifle muskets delivered were of the Model 1861 type with parts interchangeable. These arms were
marked on the lockplates in front of the hammer, with EAGLE and U.S. over WATERTOWN in two lines,
under the bolster and were dated behind the hammer, 1863. Hoard's armory also made freeman percussion revolvers.
