Dinslow & Chase Contract Rifle Muskets
.
Dinslow & Chase of Windsor Locks Conn. were subcontractors for various various parts of rifle muskets during the
war. They produced mostly barrels, but were also a source of locks for several contractors. It is a distinct possibility that they
produced the "Windsor Locks " lockplates in small numbers for one or more prime contractors. The lockplates are marked in front
of the hammer, with an EAGLE and U.S. over WINDSOR LOCKS in two lines, under the bolster
and were dated behind the hammer, 1863. Few specimens survive today.
