Tribute to our Military

I salute all military and Thank You for
giving of yourself to protect us.

No one will know my name,
Nor will they know my game.
I fought a war and died one night.
Oh, it gave me such a fright.
Now, I watch over you,
Protecting from the "well to do".
I have been to hell and back.
Now, my life is all I lack.
Memories of life into my mind creep,
Making "six feet under" feel so deep.
I am the soldier unknown.
To disheartened feelings, I am prone.

Dedicated

To all the men who've come and gone
To all the men who've lived so long
To all the men that fought and died
To all the men that fought and survived.
There was a war that should not have been.
There was a war, many lost their friends.
The actual battle is now done;
The war within yourselves has just begun.
Don't hate yourself - for your country you fought.
Don't hate yourself - and stop being caught
within a time warp.
Try to live; throw the past away.
Try to live; this is a new day.
The war was hard, but it is over and gone.
Thank you for giving me the chance
to sing our song -
Oh Say Can You See.

Plead for Freedom

I've been told so often that we are all free.
I wish I could feel this was true.
Other's may feel it, but I can't.
I am constantly haunted by the memories.
I am not free from the pain;
I'm bound to the horror of it all.
I will never again be free.

The night I arrived in Vietnam,
I knew all freedom was lost;
not only for me, but for all who fought that war.
The physical war may be over,
but the war inside us will always continue on.

The lights in the sky - why couldn't they have been stars,
or the moon?
They had to be bombs,
bullet tracers or flares to light our way through
the dense jungle. The blasts of gun fire -
why couldn't it have been fireworks on Independence Day;
Freedom for all!

How the tears fell when I had to leave you lying there,
torn apart by enemy fire.
You wanted me to go, wanted me safe.
Now, only you are truly safe - you made it out of this world.
I'm still stuck here.
The pain in your eyes still comes to me when I try to sleep.
The tight grasp you had on my arm still makes my hand go numb.
Why did I have to survive?
Now, all I feel is hell on earth.
Wouldn't it be easier if I was with you?

Tonight when I go to bed, I will say another prayer for you,
and at the end of that prayer, I'm going to plead,
with all my heart, not to wake up to face tomorrow. Please answer my prayer, so I, too, can finally be free.

Dear Cathe, when you sent me these poems little did we know
we would be in the middle of another war.
I feel now is a good time for these poems to go up.

I am the mother of a Marine daughter, I cannot even begin to
imagine the torture these parents went through of our
3 EX-POWs! My prayers are with all the troops as well as
praying God will be with the parents and they can find some comfort
in knowing that we, as Americans are supporting them.

They Would Die For You!
I Am A Proud Member of HUSH
What Will You Do For Them?

God Bless and watch over you and bring you safely back
to the arms of your families and your country.
