Memories of the
Joe Kidney on the
left...Barnhart on the right.
I was on flying status.We received about 10 C-119.I
went R-G in Jan 11,1955.The first air plane I saw was
#614 with a blue nose.I was the only one who new any
thing about the C-119s. The air craft I was on was a
C-118 that we hauled people.
I went on the search mission to look for the C-82 from the 11th Sq. that hit a mountain in France. (Note: I was on that trip also.) I remember the search we did for the C-47 that went down in Italy. (Note: I remember going there) Some of us went down to Sidi Slimane, Morocco to repair a C-82 that had gas tanks leaking. (Note: Is't that where George Froeba got Rags the dog?) I had a brother that was stationed at Nurser AFB, Casablanca, Morocco.
I had to go base shop to work on the C-82s so they
could ship them back to the USA. I was a crew chief
on a C-119 that was out of service the whole time I
was on it. When they took the squadron picture I was
in Casablanca on leave.
I was on the Rhein Main Rod & Gun club skeet team. I shot with Dale Hall, and john Mills. We went all over Europe.
I had a jeep the last year that I was in 12 TC Sq. I sold that jeep to Patterson and it quit running. I don't know what he had to do to get it running.
When I came back from over seas I was stationed at
McGuire A.F.B.,NJ.
I flew
with the outfit out of Mcguire AFB, NJ. We had runs
to Rhein Main. When I was discharged I went to
Richards-Gebauer AFB.Missouri where I stayed for 6
years. Then I got out. That is where I now live.
That
is Belton,Missouri.
There are a lot of memories of good times with the guys pictures on this page. Some I have forgoten. But time has left me with alot of the good ones.
